Who is cyrus?

Isaiah 45:1 “This is what the Lord says to his anointed,
to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of
to subdue nations before him
and to strip kings of their armor,
to open doors before him
so that gates will not be shut:

13 I will raise up Cyrus in my righteousness:
I will make all his ways straight.
He will rebuild my city
and set my exiles free,
but not for a price or reward,
says the Lord Almighty.”

Isaiah prophesied about King Cyrus of Persia 150 years before his birth. God used King Cyrus to release the Jewish people, recorded in 2 Chronicles 36:22-23.
Josephus the historian also writes that King Cyrus was informed of the Biblical prophesies about him.

Cyrus was a famous Persian king whom God used to restore a remnant of Israel back to their homeland to rebuild Jerusalem and the temple. It appears that he was saved by God's grace, since he certainly acknowledged God as the LORD God of Heaven, and as the only true God, and did God's bidding.

EZRA 1
1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

2 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

3 Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.

Not really , he was worshipping baphomet or something like that because we have coins with Cyrus signature and on reverse pagan gods , he was not godly man but God still used him once for rescuing his people . He was like Salomon who first believed and then went astray into worshipping pagan gods .

Solomon was saved. To say otherwise is foolish. Yes, he went astray in the end of his life, and God punished him for that, but Solomon was endowed by God as the greatest and wisest king of Israel of the time.

It's very possible that Cyrus was saved, and it is equally likely that Nebuchadnezzar was saved.

Interestingly, Cyrus is called Messiah in Isaiah 45:1. And he was also known for religious tolerance in his empire. Some have suggested that he was a follower of Zoroastrianism, a non-Abrahamic monotheistic religion, but it is almost impossible to say for sure.

Zoroastrianism is really interesting: it comes from the teachings of Zarathustra (lived somewhere between 1500 BC and 600 BC). They believe in one God, called Ahura Mazda (the Lord of Wisdom), the struggle between God and the evil sprit Angra Mainyu, a coming messiah, a judgement day at the end of time, a heaven and a hell, and the free will of Man.

As you see, ther are some similarities between Zoroastrianism and Judaism. Which could explain Cyrus's kindness towards the Jews. But that remains conjecture.

It would make sense for Cyrus to have been Zoroastrian, as that was the chief religion of the Persians, and would be the state religion of the various Persian empires up until the fall of the Sassanid Empire in the 7th century.
