There was never any hope for a recovery for Alfie. All the Bambino Jesu was offering was palliative care. Theirs was more invasive than Liverpool’s - a tracheostomy for breathing and a similar operation for feeding. Neither intervention would have actively treated him.

Alfie did have palliative care since Monday. There was no question of euthenasia which is illegal in the UK.

There is no concept of parental rights in England. Parents don’t own their child. There are many of these types of cases every month in hospitals across the country, and 99% of them are resolved through common sense where doctors and parents understand and respect one another.

The courts are only involved when there is a breakdown in communication, and they will only ever decide on what is in the best interest of the child, not the parents. That is why every single court decision has been unanimous. If you read the court decisions, they are incredibly sensitive to the feelings of the family, yet keeping focussed on the best outcome for the child.

Alfie’s parents got into an entrenched position, not helped by foreign influences, where they could not gracefully back down. They were very poorly advised by legal teams (who were quids-in), and not accepting of great pastoral support.

Life is better than comfort, even if only for a few seconds.

What does that mean?
If you cannot understand even that, you will not understand the love and compassion we have for Alfie Evans.

Lord have mercy on us all!

Fair enough. I will not ask you to articulate further in order to enlighten me.

Well let me put it lake this, what is more important, life itself, or the temporary and fleeting comforts of life?

Is it possible that the Italian Government could impose sanctions, or make other retributive acts and/or gestures?
What? Like send back diplomats? No, not a chance. Especially if the spurious granting of citizenship can be challenged in European courts.

The Italian government is not going to make enemies.

I would explain things to you but I’m so angry.

I want justice for Alfie Evans and his family!

Yes, death is totally is always best thing for a little toddler!

Yes, very disgraceful for the parents to value their child's life! Very uncivil!

But I'm just some narrow-minded barbaric unenlightened medieval fanatic who just wants to toddler to suffer rather than live because some masochistic superstitious obsession with life!

Don't mind me!

There was never any hope for a recovery for Alfie.

As Christians, we believe in miracles. So it's absolutely possible on a spiritual level that he could have recovered. The NHS has diagnosed many people as beyond help and incurable that have gone on to recover.

There is no concept of parental rights in England.

And what a disgrace that is.

All the Bambino Jesu was offering was palliative care.

Because they respected the wishes of the parents and their beliefs. It's better than no care.

There was no question of euthenasia which is illegal in the UK.

How can you describe the chemicals they were going to pump into him as anything but euthanasia?

resolved through common sense where doctors and parents understand and respect one another.

And the doctors and courts did not give one bit of care to the families religious beliefs. So not only were they deprived of any parental rights, their religious liberty and beliefs were also denied.

Most of those parents will probably not be practicing Christians or poorly catechised christians, so that's not a surprise and should not be the standard.

and they will only ever decide on what is in the best interest of the child

Yeah, right.

they are incredibly sensitive to the feelings of the family

Really? Because the way the last judge spoke to Tom Evans was actually pretty horrendous I thought.

not helped by foreign influences

At least they were willing to help unlike our gutless political authorities and our spineless religious "leaders".

Lord have mercy! What are we coming to? Compassion is being hijacked. Again, Lord have mercy.

I have no idea how any of this can be happening. It really is a shocking state of affairs.

St. Thomas Moore pray for us.

How odd, as you invoked the intercession of St Thomas Moore, I am as we speak watching a film about him. Spooky aha
