Hi all, I am wondering how Gods love enters the heart from a practical and theological point of view.

Say that one saint was struggling with feelings of insecurity and self rejection, One would think the course of treatment would be to then be convinced of Gods personal love and acceptance of them. but just how does this truth enter the heart? is it through scripture meditation? is it through verbal confession of unbelief and an attempt of the will to believe?

I think God's love begins to enter the heart once we realize we're filthy, rotten, wretched human beings because of our sins, and then humble ourselves and repent of our sins. Pride will keep God away. Giving our lives to God, like a living sacrifice, will cause God to enter our hearts. As the Bible says... draw nearer to God, and he will draw nearer to you. Just how close does a person want God to be?

This is difficult as many of us do not feel like we are worthy. In preChristian days we were not worthy as the writer stated above. However, after accepting Jesus Christ as our lord and savior we are saved from our sin. Yet the feeling of unworthiness may still persist.

We might be asking ourselves how can God love a worthless slug like me? But He does and after you've accepted Him and made Him lord of your life, you are a child of God with all that it means.

Take a look at the following article in gotquestions.org and click on any of the links at the bottom of the article that you like. God bless you and I'm praying for you.

More often than not, I think feelings of insecurity and self rejection are the result of faulty lifestyles. Sometimes lifestyle changes are necessary.

Psalms 45:1 My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue.

Speak God's love, believe God's love.

I agree. Although we are forgiven, for now the memory of our sin remains. Some of us have more than others and it can seem unbearable. I meditate on Gods peace and mercy.

Lamentations 3:19 Remember my affliction and my [e]wandering, the wormwood and bitterness.
20 Surely my soul remembers
And is bowed down within me.
21 This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
22 The Lord’s lovingkindnesses [f]indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I have hope in Him.”
25 The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,
To the [g]person who seeks Him.
26 It is good that he waits silently
For the salvation of the Lord.
