Its 45 a week, but you must pay for a month up front and they charge you each month unless you unsubscribe. So its 180 up front every month.

Do you think this is a good idea, and that Moon can afford it?

All the counselors have masters degrees or higher. You can google their names to see them usually on psychology today and their credentials.

What are their names?

If you are trying to budget, why pay anything at all? Go to the library. There are great books on the topic of faith building, no doubt with questions you and your fiance can go over together. There may be such things like that on the net, too. As for the books, read Amazon reviews on them to get a feel of how helpful they might be, and which ones you want to read. You don't necessarily need another person involved. If you and your guy will sit down and discuss the issues in the books you will learn a ton and be more prepared for the future. Of course preface all that with joint prayer.

Most pastors will do it for free.

I doubt it (in the traditional sense that we use those terms). It seems to be endorsed by CF.

It might not be a scam per say but spam is to send the same message indiscriminately to (large numbers of recipients) on the Internet (although saying it's $45 a week, but demanding $180 for the month upfront and not giving you the option of paying by the week is sort of scammy and misleading). It's just site endorsed spam and I'm sure they get a financial commission or something for the members they bring in to use the service. It just seems shady. Especially since they seem to be targeting desperate people on the general mental health section of the forum. Maybe it will help people that need it and be the best thing ever, but I think the way it was presented made it seem super shady.

I'm not super close to my pastor like that...and when I did want to talk to him he had something to do...well somewhere to be.

And that's fine ...because pastors are people with their own lives... Which is why I'd rather have a therapist.

If you feel you need a counsellor, find one you can meet in person. And find one that charges per appointment, not per month.

Yes I gotten emails from them too, presumably because I posted to a thread in mental health. I didn't read it though or respond. And lately their ads have been popping up on CF for me. I have my own therapist I am comfortable with who charges a rate that we negotiated and I am comfortable with.

Sounds dodgey, Moon. I'm wary of aggressive marketers. I'd be careful if I were you.

That is really sneaky and underhanded. If CF is allowing people to be targeted by them it should be stopped. I wonder if they are getting a percentage if people from this forum are signing up?

Well to be fair , they did send the pm to everyone but then showed concern about it after people didn't like that it seems, but the question thread about it is on the general mental health section. It is appealing to the people that post in or are familiar with that section. It could be a fabulous resource for people that struggle, but since Cf seems to have some sort of business deal with them I'm sure CF gets financial kickbacks for members that sign up. If they are going to promote a business, then they need to be clear about what it entails for them as well. Had cf kept this in the open and not taken it to pm and kept the admin. Question thread as a site wide announcement ; then it probably wouldn't seem as shady.
