So my bf and I signed up for it. We both didn't pay right away..we declined. For him he was still able to get matchrd to someone... and I wasn't.

Why was he able to get matched but I wasn't...what did I do wrong?

Thanks in advanced.

Was that the "Faithful Counselling" that pops up between posts?
I have had it saying it was offering it to me.
Honestly I don't like or trust that sort of thing.
I am guessing I got it because of some posts in the forum.
Don't worry about it but personally, like I did I would ignore it.
If it is that one I'm talking about, I almost fell for it thinking it was something to do with this forum and nearly clicked out of pure curiosity.
Be careful there are lots of unscrupulous things on the web. It only takes a click.....:(

I believe "Faith Counseling" is a subtle ad that is being foisted upon us. Here's the one-liner we all see:

"We teamed up with Faith Counseling. Can they help you today?"

My jaded guess is that it's a way to provide counseling for a fee, and that there may be some part of that fee getting kicked back to CF. (But that's just a jaded guess.) Personally, I'd rather pay a face-to-face counselor that I could vet more easily.

I am not too sure what good online counseling will do anyway. I am of the opinion that it does nothing but take your money. If I were you I would ask for a list of all of the supposed counselors and vet them to see what their credentials are. If they do not have a recognized license then I would not even think of using them. A counseling license in most states requires a graduate level education. If they do not have a degree at an accredited institution I would pass.

You're right. They should have at least an MSW (Master's of Social Work) and an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker).

I've thought about that. I think I'll just try it for a month.. I got 75 percent off..so it's just 44$ a month.

Have you tried talking to your pastor? He or she may be able to help, if not, they'll know who you can go to who is reputable in your area.

I have a degree in psychology, and as a rule, I would say to avoid online counselling. You have no real way of checking who you are talking to, or that they are qualified. Check the American Psychological Association as they will also have lists of accredited therapists.

I'm actually a licensed counselor and i can tell you that it is unethical to start counseling someone without giving informed consent which includes a personal disclosure statement about the counselors history and training. It is also unethical for a counselor to pretend that they are training in an area they are not or to practice outside the scope of their training. Some online programs are also a potential privacy violation since you cannot ensure that only the person your counseling is present and listening. It would be much better for you to find a counselor by either contacting your insurance company and getting a referral by someone on their panel or by contacting your family doctor and asking for a referral.
I don't know anything about this faith counseling program, but remember that you get what you pay for. I don't know of an counselor anywhere that would do a month of sessions for $44. It just doesn't happen

Are you actually looking for a counselor, or is it something you guys just decided to try to see what it's like?

I have no idea.... accept that I would wager that those who pay are likely to be prioritized over those who don't.

And I would also guess (and forgive me if this seems odd) but I think women are harder to counsel than men. It's easier to find a match for a guy, than for a girl.

I do find it strange that as a person of faith, that you are required to pay for this.

My church, and my parents church, and even the church I used to go to, offered counseling for free to church members.

If you are member of a church, I would have thought you would get free help. No obviously free counseling has a long wait time to get in, and it's harder to find a time slot you can fit. But not one of them charged for counseling.

In fact my own father is actually a counselor. He never charges.

Its 45 a week, but you must pay for a month up front and they charge you each month unless you unsubscribe. So its 180 up front every month.

What??!! For what exactly?

Can you get your money back if you decided you might want to?
