I woke up this morning to this very vivid dream--as if I was right there. It was dreary (either dawn or dusk in a snowy/freezing rain/wet and potentially icy roads scene). I can't remember seeing anything so clearly in person and I don't watch scary movies for thrills and didn't have a late night snack that might make me have a dream like this. I am asking you for any insights God may give you. The young man appeared in color, though I really only noticed his head and the amputated left arm with freshly exposed flesh in color.

DREAM: I am driving down the road. I forget where I was going--maybe home--but it certainly felt like it was something that was a regular routine. An alert came on my phone about BLOOD in the area. I had never seen a warning like that before on my phone. Then, a map popped up and the "blood" was on the entry ramp to the highway that I was about to get on. I pulled over and got out of the car. Others had pulled over, too, and some were ahead of me on the scene trying to help. Yet, I yelled "I'm calling 911." three times as I was dialing. Then this young man came to me (all of the sudden and out of seemingly out of nowhere) with his left arm completely chopped off about a few inches below the shoulder.and said in an eerily calm voice: "You need to take me to the hospital now." It didn't even appear that he was dripping blood (like it would need a torniquet), it was just open flesh. I didn't even notice a bone just open flesh. So, I yelled down the road I had been on "Does anyone know how to put a torniquet on?" three times I yelled the same thing with no reply. Then, I was going to be taking him and wondering how I was going to get a policeman's attention on the way since I was in an insufficient vehicle to drive as fast as I felt I needed to in order to get the young man to the hospital. The reason I felt that was it had recently snowed and the roads were wet and potentially icey and I was driving our rear-wheel drive car (which is not very safe to drive fast in icey conditions).

I woke up to that dream at shortly after 5 AM this morning.

I have dreams that are more like visions somewhat often. How I gauge if it's something supernatural is if something comes of it in real life within a few days or even weeks, where the basic scene unfolds all over again or carries on more or less from where it left off.. If nothing like that happens then to me it's just a dream. Our minds can make up some amazing things in dreams but you need confirming details in real life to close in that gap to the supernatural realm.

Though I could possibly give you some general ideas concerning the fact that you twice yelled three times specifically. Temptations come in threes. Materialism, egoism, masochism. The fact that blood dominated the dream and yet you didn't see it except on the ground, whereas you can't even say if this person was the owner of said blood. I'm still curious about that....Jesus?
You yourself are probably the observer in the dream, not a partaker. The events unfolding are about you. The situations are metaphors usually. The vehicle is your life, always stuck in your phone, you need to "cut it off", you think that you control things that you really don't control. Also, the "weather" in your life is hazy and cold because of uncertainty and lack of joy/love in your spiritual life. A rekindling with the Lord is always a good idea, pray more often, seek a closer fellowship.
Main point, something is trying to get your attention in a big way.
Stay off the phone when you drive.
Pray about the dream, pray for discernment. Trust what God has said to you in Scriptures. Test the spirit you received in the dream to make sure it's from God.
Just some thoughts.

Well, usually a person so injured would not be walking and talking, I think, but the person would be in shock. So, may be it is a spiritual thing, of how a person without Jesus is missing one's left arm. And you yourself are able to help someone who needs Christ . . . no need to call for institutional help or some device like a tourniquet.

But don't most people have the main use, of their right arm? Yes. But. The left arm is the one ones might not consider to be so needed and important. But "the things which are despised God has chosen" (in 1 Corinthians 1:28). Wherever we are, God can use us.

People need to depend on Jesus, not on their own right-arm ability, but have Jesus and His grace supplying where there is no left arm but only Jesus and His blood.

"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." (in 1 Corinthians 12:7-15)

He knew he needed to come to you :)

Thank you to everyone who chose to give their personal opinions. I really appreciate the attempts to help.

My beliefs don't allow for this to be nothing. If Joseph (of Joseph and Mary) didn't listen to his dreams, Jesus might have been killed. If Peter didn't continue to contemplate his vision, he never could have gotten beyond the Jewish traditions to go to the first gentiles (Cornelius and his family) which may have created problems for Paul.

I see in Scripture where dreams/visions are given--often as warnings of some sort. Since I live in Scripture and sleep to Scripture, the idea that I get a rare vivid dream like this that leaves a lasting impression on me isn't just a fluke from my perspective. I don't believe it was just a random happening in my mind caused by whatever chemical reaction happened when my body determined that I was going to get up shortly after 5 AM. It takes more faith for me to believe that than that God spoke to me. And, when I recount how many times the disciples who traveled with Jesus asked Him--in private--what He was talking about after He gave a message He expected them to understand, it doesn't surprise me that I don't immediately understand the significance for me.

I have always lamented "God just tell me exactly what you want me to do and I'll do it." Yet, God says: "It is the glory of God to conceal a thing; but the honor of kings is to search it out." (Prov 25:2). I believe that the fellowship of Christians is part of searching the matter out. God can provide me the interpretation directly or He may, in His wisdom, choose for it to be through someone I might tell the dream to. HalleluJah! So be it!

I love when people use The Word, because in Psalm 138, we are told that God magnified His Word above all His Name. God said to Jeremiah that He watches over His Word to perform it (Jer 1:12). He said to Isaiah that His Word will never returns void, but will always accomplish that which He sent it forth to do. (Isa 55:10-11). Hebrews tells us His Word is living and active and sharper than a two-edged sword (Heb 4:12). And, Jesus said that no one comes to the Father except through Him (The Word of God) (John 14:6) and that His sheep know His voice (John 10:27).

Yet, to date, I still don't have an interpretation that I feel a confirmation in my spirit about. If anyone has heard something from God--even a question that might help me think through this more, please do share. Sometimes, in my experience, it is the questions that unlock certain information that can be instrumental in coming to the place of understanding what a dream/vision means.

I agree with you that this is likely a spiritual thing. And, my smartphone maps program doesn't give me "blood spill" warnings! I have driven by accidents--like flipped cars--but have never seen someone running down the road with their arm severed off. I also agree with you on the likelihood of shock setting in and the person not just calmly finding me, let alone seeming to have his arm naturally cauterized (it had no burn marks or anything. Just open flesh hanging off the shoulder) so that it wasn't bleeding any more without a tourniquet, so it didn't even need a tourniquet. I think even in the dream I was shocked about that, since I was yelling for someone who knew how to administer that--even though I already do and the guy didn't really seem to need one. Honestly, I don't know if I was yelling because I didn't want to be the one who had to put the tourniquet on or if maybe I was in shock that he was calmly telling me to take him to the hospital and yet I saw no blood coming out of his severed arm or any trace of it on his clothes (that I noticed). He didn't even look like he had been in an accident, honestly. He came to me when I had just gotten over the guard rail and was moving across the field toward where my GPS was telling me was the "blood spill". It seemed like there were already others over there, so I am not sure why I seemingly left my car in the turning lane and started moving toward the area I identified on the ground with being where the "blood spill" was. Normally with accidents, if there are others already engaged, I don't get out, too. I pray as I go by for the victims, but beyond that, I don't do anything. And, agreed, it would be highly abnormal for a guy to be walking around with a recently ripped off arm. I do believe the details are significant, like left arm versus right arm. Like the "blood" alert being in color and showing up on the GPS as a green zone (rather than a dot or a gray zone) and the map was in color (not dulled out), and the guy's face and arm being in color; but the rest of the details being more faded in the dull and dark stormy wintery scenery. One thing, even now, is I'm noticing details that I didn't think important to share the first time around as I am revisiting what I saw. I guess a picture can be worth many more than a thousand words, huh?

Just some thoughts.

You don't know me, so I thought I would give you some feedback on your insights:

You said: "The weather in your life is hazy and cold because of uncertainty and lack of joy/love in your spiritual life. A rekindling...." If God gave you that, then God has that right. But, what if you aren't representing what God would say? Are you certain that weather represents my life? What if it represents an aspect of the world that we have to navigate through and not my life? I wasn't indecisive in either my route or my choice to get out and approach a situation that, in theory, I didn't need to approach. This is where "prophetic giftings" and generic interpretations can be dangerous. What if the dream interpretation books aren't specific to the individual and therefore can lead the individual astray with false interpretations based on things that weren't meant for that particular individual to take that way? I had a friend who had wonderful prophetic insights, but when he allowed his own life to get in the way of his interpretation, he would be way off in what he was telling others about their lives.

The "blood alert" was what my dream centered around. I agree, especially since it was one of the colored parts of an otherwise dull and dreary scene. But, the blood was never seen--even on the ground or on the person with the severed arm. It was only seen in the form of the alert that came over my phone.

You said: "Something is trying to get your attention in a big way." Yes, but what if it is God? Do you know for certain that it isn't?

You said: "You are probably an observer not a partaker." Couldn't that be said of all of us in every scenario we enter? But, I was the one who the guy with the severed arm came to, so while I hadn't gotten to where my GPS alerted me was there the blood spill was (and therefore I wasn't a partaker of whatever was going on in that area), I was a partaker in that I responded to the alert and then I had this guy come up to me (out of nowhere) and then I made 2 distinct yells three times each. So, in that way, I was a partaker/participant and not an outside observer reporting a scene.

You said: "Stay off the phone." But, don't you use a map to get you to places or know when to change your route because of accidents? It was my maps program that came up with the alert. I wasn't texting or talking. My phone was in my lap.

You said: "Trust what God said to you in the Scriptures." I do. I live in the Scriptures. I sleep to the Scriptures. God woke me up through the Scriptures. But, He has also chosen to give me significant dreams when He wants to. I didn't go to sleep last night and say "Wow, God, I sure would like to have a crazy dream tonight. Give me one!" My relationship with Him isn't like that. But, on the infrequent occasion where I get something like this, I pay attention. Peter didn't write off his only recorded vision in Scripture. I thank God for that and how it paved the way for what Paul was given to do! What might have happened in the Jerusalem council had they not been innoculated by God through what happened with Peter? We won't ever know, but I can only imagine. Paul likely would have been run off. But, Peter was the first to go and his example was instrumental in the Jerusalem council of Acts 15.

You said: "Temptations come in threes...." But, more than temptations come in threes. The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. Peter saw the vision of the net three times (Acts 11:10) and then he was told to go with the three men by the Spirit (Acts 11:11-12) Paul was blind 3 days and didn't go to Jerusalem for 3 years. Jesus was here doing ministry roughly three years. Jesus asked if this cup could pass and reaffirmed: "not My will, but Yours be done" to the Father three times. In contrast to a message from God, it seems like the temptation changes. When Jesus was tempted by the devil, there were distinct and different temptations that He was presented with. But, three times, Jesus asked Peter "do you love Me." Three times He prayed to the Father "Not My will, but Yours be done." Three times, Peter saw the same vision. I am sure there are many more threes in Scripture.

I also mentioned they were ideas. I wasn't attempting to thoroughly break down the dream. Had I done that, I would have prayed for discernment, as I advised. Some of what you said was vague and didn't make any sense as it didn't have any cohesiveness. You could have been cold while you were sleeping for example that made for the weather...I was trying to give you a place to start, not act as a self-help book. Study the word, pray about it, it will resolve itself.

Keith,
I understand you said that. But, if I was an insecure believer, what you said could have been taken as a beat down that devastated me. Wouldn't it have been better to pray for an interpretation or discernment before sharing if what you were saying was just a guess?

Keith,

I have prayed for discernment since, as I hoped you did as well. One thing was that, yes I should have been more patient before responding. That way the entirety of the message could have been unveiled. However, that being said, it was no less pertinent for it was the same Spirit that told me what to say.
In further review to help edify, it is often the things you dismiss that are vital for interpretation.
For instance, the weather is important because it provides the setting for the events. In elaborating on the weather, the conditions of life are treacherous and dangerous making it hard to travel to do what you want to do. You emphasized several times in your explanations how you live and breathe the Word. This would include saving someone's life by giving them the gospel. It makes sense in a way, that you are finding this difficult because of the atmosphere you currently have in your life (though I can't know what that is). Though you mention the young man in your dream, you never identify him by name and through your description, you do not know him personally? [correct me here if I am wrong about knowing him]
So the person's identity isn't essential, nor is it a factor. The fact remains, it is a person you have chosen to take an interest in and have taken the responsibility upon yourself to save this man's life.
Let us reexamine
You are going through the routine everyday when you get an alert that you are not sure how to respond to. The dream seems to be about life, hence the emphasis on blood. Life is in the blood.
See Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
Weird that he is not bleeding????
The thing you fail to realize, though you were close... Is that he did not need a tourniquet. You did notice it, but you still felt he needed one.
Upon further examination of the situation, you find that that others in reaction to the same situations respond in a certain manner. This case being pulling over as they did.
The man approaches you because you made yourself available. That is our task as a minister of the Word of God. God will open our hearts to receive people. He will put them in our path to help them. You identified your vehicle as being insufficient for the task presented to you.
Recall the verse "my grace is sufficient".
There will be icy roads in life. We will feel that our vehicles are inadequate to get the job done. Remember to trust God fully because he will give you what you need. Even in the dire situations like getting a man to the hospital to save his life.
The thing I thought odd that you never noticed, was that it only seems to you that he would need to go to the hospital under the assumptions that he lost a lot of blood, had his arm chopped off, maybe was in an accident, and the fact that he told you.
He was talking normal and seemingly okay aside from the oddity of not bleeding and missing the arm. In helping others spiritually, God will give you insight into spiritual wounds. In reality they will have no bleeding, walk and talk normal. But there are just things that strike you differently.
Anytime you get serious about dream interpretation, write the dream down. Write everything you can think about it. Feelings, any little anything.. no matter how ordinary.
Keep cycling back through it many times when praying and talking with God. He will reveal what it means to you personally.
I hope that helps. Also keep reading the scriptures.
Personally I ask you to read a dream I had earlier last year that I had posted on here that I got really in depth with... It has some insight as to the "grasp of things that aren't necessary though you think they are". The dream I had actually involved a similar feeling in offering a coat to someone though it wasn't cold...in what I thought was snow..(that wasn't cold) go figure..

Thank you for your further insights, Keith. And, even in what you said earlier there was value, because I had to think through things as I responded to you. In my experience with God, He usually reveals more to me through the questions (and thoughts) of others, because it prompts me to revisit what he gave me and take things back to Him that I might not have thought of otherwise. For instance, to my surprise one of my facebook friends asked if I saw the young man's face (and I did) and how he made me feel? I hadn't thought about that, because I was so caught up in the "emergency situation." I will read your other post. Thanks for sharing.

You're most welcome. If you feel like talking more about this (dreams) or anything else (I'm a bible thumper), I'm always available to you. Hope Easter has been good, celebrating our risen savior. :)

Thoughts?

Greetings, Johnny4Christ.

I’ve been away from this Forum for a while, so I didn’t post on this until now. But I believe your dream is a serious one, and a warning that violence may be coming to Christians in America in the future. The symbolism breaks down as follows:

- Dreary, potentially icy roads/ unsafe traveling conditions = The road some Christians and Christians ministries in the US will be traveling in the future will be a violent one, “unsafe” for the flesh.
- You feel you are “driving home” = Sufferings are the path Christians have traditionally taken to get “home,” i.e. to Heaven, and it will be so again here.
- “It felt like a regular routine” = This suggests the regular routine of the modern church is going to be broken. The modern church has had it easy (at least in the West) until relatively recently, making the violent attacks that will be coming seem like something “new.” But the fact is, persecution and affliction have always been a part of life for believers since New Testament times. As Paul once told Timothy, “all who live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” (2 Timothy 3:12)
- Phone = Messages coming through a phone usually represent receiving prophetic warnings from God, and this is the case here as well. This entire dream is essentially a message to you that violent attacks are going to be coming to believers. You “received” this message on your “phone” when you received this dream.
- “Blood in the Area” = “in the area” here is taken to mean the US, though it may also refer to attacks in your area specifically. But keep in mind, the early stages of this dream’s fulfillment might start happening soon, but the greater likelihood is that this will take place in coming years and decades, not weeks or months.
- Highway = An expression for taking the “highway” to Heaven, which involves “suffering unto blood” (Hebrews 12:4). The “ramp” leading to this highway is afflictions, as indicated by the blood in that area specifically.
- Cars “pull over” and try to help = Cars refer to ministries in dreams, and that they will “pull over” (i.e. from their normal ministry functions) means that they will be redirecting their efforts towards helping the afflicted once this phenomenon starts becoming more common.
- No answer from 911 = These attacks will no longer be stopped by human authority. This is rather frightening, but it is what appears to be represented here. But again, understand that this will be ordained of God, since believers are ultimately appointed to it (1 Thessalonians 3:3).
- A man says, “You need to take me to the hospital now” in eerily calm voice = Suggests he will be resigned to it. This may be due to a certain feeling of helplessness among believers in coming years. It appears they will feel there is no way to stop it, which again would make sense if the authorities are turning more of a blind eye. The “hospital” here would be deliverance from such conditions.
- Man appears suddenly, with his arm chopped off = Islamic terrorism... While the attacks will probably come from a variety of sources, Islam may in all likelihood become the dominant one eventually. Islam is a religion of the sword, and an arm being "chopped off" is indicative of a sword wound. But now please don’t misunderstand. This should not be taken as literally describing the types of weapons that will use; only the source behind where these attacks will in all likelihood be coming from: Islamic terrorist cells operating within the US. This may seem like a reach on such a scanty symbolic reference, but I know of other prophecies that suggest Islam is going to bring terrorism to US shores eventually. And again, what makes terrorism so frightening is that it comes “out of nowhere.”
- Arm not dripping blood = Tricky, but after prayer I sensed this points to how the man’s blood had already fallen “in the area,” i.e. into the ground. Scripture says that the martyrdom of the saints often results in their blood “calling out from the ground,” meaning that the area itself will call out to God for judgment against the oppressors. This would make it yet another suggestion that those who appeal to the authorities and get little help from them, and have no choice but to turn to God for deliverance.
- No reply to “Does anyone know how to put on a tourniquet?” = Tourniquets prevent blood flow, with the suggestion here that the church will be helpless to prevent blood loss from occurring. It will have already occurred, and trying to stop the coming persecution will be futile.
- Not able to get to a hospital fast = This means that this coming time of persecution and affliction is going to last for a good while, before anything resembling “healing” comes.

I realize you may not have thought this dream was so seriously, but keep in mind that it was vivid enough to move you to post it publicly on this Forum. The imprint it made on your mind suggests it may have been more important than you realized at the time.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on this interpretation. I regard it as accurate.
