Walking in the Spirit requires us to actively practice and be involved in communing with God and listening and allowing the Holy Spirit to direct our path. It requires a desire to be immersed in God's love and a willingness to submit to Him in all things. Little by little He increases and I decrease

Philippians 4:7-9
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

How do we know as Christians what is true or noble or right or pure? Do we follow a rulebook like wooden soldiers or do we go through the process of allowing the Spirit to guide us? Learning how to hear the Spirit and choosing to follow that leading brings peace and joy because we are no longer controlling our lives but allowing God to do the driving.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

The result of walking in the Spirit, being willing to submit to the leading of the Spirit, is the fruit. Just as a garden and orchard need care, cultivation, pruning, good soil so also our lives need to be lives in an intentional, focused manner. God's love never fails, that is why we must be filled up on a regular basis. It's not through our own efforts or our own love that holiness comes to, it's through time spent with God.




Sometimes it hard not to get sucked into the muck of dissensions and disputes. The flesh loves the muck. It's heady and prideful and loud.

How not to stumble? Read over your reply before posting...count to 10 and read it again. Delete and change when directed. Think about the effect of your words on those who will be watching. It's the internet, so there are no voice inflections, no facial expression (unless you count emoji's) that are so vital to communication. Be ready to stop or pull out when it is becoming futile. Pray for the thread and the discussion.

With all things, value and respect others on the board, even if you don't agree with them. Other Christians are a part of the body of Christ, children of the living God and our brothers and sisters. Even though there are different levels of understand, we are all (hopefully) walking in the same direction.

People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.2 Timothy 3:1-5

Now let me say, I have times of being proud, ungrateful, unforgiving and without self-control. All of us struggle with some of this.

BUT....sometimes it's a little unnerving how many Christians on this forum seemingly flaunt some of these qualities and are not sorry about it, they just seem to keep plowing ahead. So even though I read a lot here, there are many I back away from and just watch from a distance. What is the point of continuing a conversation with someone who just wants to bray for the sake of braying?

Firstly, it is helpful to turn to the Lord's Word for all things.
So what does the Word tell us?
Galatians 5:16-17 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
So you see here, there are two natures at war with each other within each of us.
Paul said it in Romans
Romans 7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
and again in Romans 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
We all struggle to walk in the spirit.
So then, how do we do it?
Go back to Galatians 5
16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Avoid the things of the flesh, do the things of the spirit. Over time, this produces a work in you which is what you could say is walking in the spirit. It's a struggle. It is referred to as the good fight. (2 Timothy 4:7)
One step and one day at a time.
Keep praying, keep close to God.
And keep reading your Bible....I cannot stress this enough. Most questions that we come across in our walk, can be answered with God's Word and patience. For if you read long enough, you eventually find the answer to what you seek. For there is nothing that God's Word does not contain pertaining to salvation and how to live a righteous life or how to work the works of a righteous person.
Seek the spiritual messages that each story unfolds. You see the spiritual messages behind the parables of Jesus, correct? Imagine that not only is the history factual, but also parables to derive lessons from. And listen to God's still small voice for it speaks everyday more often than you think.

The thing is, regardless of what your positions may be, if you let people annoy you so that you don't respond, then you end up letting their voices be the only ones heard. But, getting tied up in insulting exchanges is not good either. I think most readers are a better judge of people than we may think. They consider what's being said, but they also consider the source.

So stand your ground if it really counts! But don't be afraid to learn new things. Well, that's a whole different thread. XD

Do your best to learn and grow in Torah (the holy righteous law of God). Doing what it says to do, and not only hearing, for the law is spiritual, and the breaking of it is sin.

Paul teaches us about walking in the spirit in Galatians 5. That chapter also lists the works of flesh and the fruit of the spirit. If we understand the works of flesh, and the law of love, we have the whole law of Christ, as given by the apostles.. In my opinion.
