Kent Hovind videos?Heard of Them?

Hovind is a con man who preys on people not educated enough to recognize his games; he has no qualifications in the field, and indeed, his only qualification is a purchased certificate from a diploma mill.

Hovind is a slimy, nasty, man, who is taking advantage of the ignorance of the general public about the issues he's discussing. There are decent creationists out there, but Hovind ain't one of them; he uses arguments that even other creationists grant have been long-since disproven.

I've seen enough evidence on these forums alone to agree with the above, Kent Hovind is a con man. He uses scientific language so that anyone who doesn't have enough knowledge of science won't be able to tell if he is wrong or not.

He may be wrong in his videos and books but its unfair to ridicule him!

I'm a Creationist, and IMHO Mr. Hovind is an embarrassment to Creation teaching.

He's wrong on many things, he gives atheists a nice straw-man viewpoint to caricature us as, and his conduct (including an arrest for assault on a tenant of a home he owned) is unbecoming.

He may be wrong in his videos and books but its unfair to ridicule him!

If by atheist you mean "someone who believes in evolution" there are many Christians who accept evolution, so evolution does not equate to atheism.

Hovind Does truly love God.

He is just a little trigger happy when it comes to evidence.

He has some interesting stuff, but I would take it all with a grain of salt.

Some of it is true and some of it isnt.

Yet his "beliefs" have been shown to be wrong time and time again, yet he still continues to peddle them as truth.

Perhaps he is, but by conventional moral standards, he's a scumbag. He cheats on his taxes. He broke into someone's house and pushed her around. He's an amazing example of how *not* to witness.

The best possible explanation for his continued and willful refusal to stop using an argument once he's seen and claimed to understand the problems with it is that he's not trying to persuade anyone, he's trying to make money selling videos to gullible Christians.

As I said, he is too trigger happy and doesnt research his material very well.

One thing I commend him for is he is dogmatic.

Well, if he has done anything wrong, he has just proved he is as human as the rest of us, and a man in need of the grace he aquires through the death of Christ.

Why? I didn't say I wasn't a bad person, I just said that there's absolutely no external support for the claim that Hovind is a Godly man. He may well be; no one knows his heart. However, it would be unwise to believe anything he says without checking it against real sources first; he provides no reliable information.

Hovind is a con man. There are creationists worth respecting and talking about, but he's not one of them. He does more damage to the cause than anything else.

They stood for what they *believed* to be true, however... And, in any event, there's no reason to believe that Hovind believes any of this stuff; he continues making claims after admitting that they're false.

Hovind's message is mostly for a mishmash of inconsistent and false claims which lend support to one particular interpretation of the Bible.

It's been tried. He rejects any help. AIG wrote an article about the importance of correcting false arguments, and he attacked them for it.

All I can do is try to help *other* people not succumb to his dangerous errors.

Hovind isn't preaching Christ. He's preaching that, if science is true, the Bible isn't, and that's *against* Christ and the Bible.

Have any of you seen any of the videos by Kent Hovind?! Yes, No? They're really good! He deals a lot with Creationism vs. Evolution. He's very smart and funny! Being funny is a big bonus when dealing with those sometimes boring topics!lol! Though if you're out to evangelize people with them, for many atheistic people, he may seem confronting and negative in the way he conveys some things. I was just wondering if anybody else knows about him and if they have, what you think of him! rh

I'm glad you found the videos helpful. I saw a couple of them and also appreciated his humour and the clear way he spoke.

Keep in mind that even among Christians who believe the Scriptures, there is disagreement about how we should interpret scientific evidence. At the end of the day, the thing that unites us, and the thing we trust is God's word. Mens opinions come and go but God's word remains.

I think it is good to realise, as has already been said that no one is perfect. Be willing to question the opinions of men, and realise that they do make mistakes.

Be careful of those who claim to be Christian, and yet disregard the word of God.

And Kent Hovind stands with a badly twisted version of "the truth" for his own gain. Just as the ends can't justify the means, the means cannot justify the ends.

Kent Hovind is for Kent Hovind. The only account he's FOR is his bank account. The biblical account is a means for siphoning money from the uneducated and gullible into his bank account.

He does more damage than good at times, I agree.

The general consensus is that Hovind is not misinformed, but rather misinforming. He's a con artist, not a poor lost soul.
