Is there such a thing? I read there was. Also, spirit of depression, spirits of worthlessness, etc.
How do you get rid of them?

That's possession not oppression.I'm not sure we are allowed to discuss demons in this particular area of CF so I'll just take "cutting" as a for instance, then quote some scripture and let people make out of it what they will. Is it connected, either directly or indirectly to the OP, or not at all? You decide.
King James Bible
Matthew 8:28-34; Luke 8:26-39)
1And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. 2And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, 3Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: 4Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. 5And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. 6But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, 7And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. 8For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. 9And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. 10And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. 11Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. 12And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. 13And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand and were choked in the sea.

I think the study of the subject of fellowship in John's First Epistle is a strong antidote to loneliness. Not sure if there's specific spirits known as those, but in the Bible different spirits and God's spirit are said to exist. I do believe spirits exist and can be in us, whether we have good or evil in our hearts. When there's good in our hearts, we're moved by the Holy Spirit; evil in our hearts would be by another or many others, the Devil's spirit or demons.
Matters of the heart are inner problem, loneliness would be an inner struggle personally (evil spirit/inner demon?); to rid of it requires a different spirit to counter it and take it's place, by coming to God admitting you have a problem to yourself and being honest with him. Together as he guides you, you'll get a better understanding of what's exactly there and what you can do about it; but importantly what you trust him to do.

Chapter 1 of 1 John is very searching on the subject of fellowship and walking in the light.Been a long time since I read through the New Testament reading it. So I don't remember all that much about it. But I agree none the less that fellowship is important as Christians, everything that's about coming to God and being in Christ (prayer, fasting, reading/hearing the Bible, church/fellowship etc.)
A lot of the charismatic stuff I really have found to be hogwash. I'm sure there is something to demonic oppression, but what I have no idea. I just saw Christian mental health counselors talking about it and they were counseling childhood sex abuse survivors. They prayed against these spirits of loneliness and the women said they felt better. Was it psychological, or something really spiritual?
I do understand the "flesh" (our innate sinfulness) vs. the spirit. The flesh is always against God. The spirit is sorta dormant until the quickening (you know, Highlander, the movie, explained the quickening amazingly well....lol). The flesh is subdued by prayer.
I've seen Fallen Angels (in Walmart of all places) and met the devil once and heard demons.
A friend, who was Catholic, could actually see the spirit realm. He could see auras on people (he said mine was inside and I hid it from view). Another woman I know said he aunt could see "spirits" (sickness and disease) on people.

I have studied on spiritual possession, oppression...strongholds....tormenting spirits...etc etc....there is a man who has since passed to be with the Lord that has wisdom, knowledge, understand and experience in the demonic issues..Lester Sumrall and he has a series of teachings on this on YouTube....A lot of the charismatic stuff I really have found to be hogwash. The theme of fellowship in John's First Epistle is very searching in connection with this subject, both interpersonal but above all 'fellowship with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ', all connected with walking in the light and cleansing.I have studied on spiritual possession, oppression...strongholds....tormenting spirits...etc etc....there is a man who has since passed to be with the Lord that has wisdom, knowledge, understand and experience in the demonic issues..Lester Sumrall and he has a series of teachings on this on YouTube....
My reason for studying it is because of my own personal experiences. I didn't know how to defeat the attacks of the enemy in my life...I have learned a great deal and it comes in handy when you need it.
God Bless.
Yes, such a spirit does exist but most of the time its a loneliness we obsess on to the point of sin. Don't get me wrong here: its not a sin to have a broken heart or feel lonely. But its the constant state of melancholy which crosses the line into sin and in time it could come with evil spirits. Though even if it doesn't become demonic its still sin and remain in a constant state of melancholy. I wish I knew this years ago because there was a time in my life when I suffered melancholy badly. I did not know my state of melancholy had become sin.Is there such a thing? I read there was. Also, spirit of depression, spirits of worthlessness, etc.
