"I consider the Bible to be an anthology not a single book. I don't think it is necessary to read every book in an anthology in order to understand the individual books in that anthology."
That was also my point of view for a long time. Therefore, I am not criticizing you in any way.
But let me say this. If you can make the commitment to read through the whole Bile, from cover to cover ...
1. You will discover many passages that you didn't even know existed. That's because church pastors simply cannot cover everything. And pastors are people too, and so they often return to favorite scriptures. But this means there are very important scriptures that you will ** never ** hear in church.
2. You will discover that God actually gives many answers to 'things you always wondered about'. They are there. The words are not cryptic. But some of these replies from God happen in humble passages of the Bible, in books that escaped your attention.
3. The wisdoom of God really is greater than our own understanding. There is something powerful, yet very subtle, that comes from reading the whole Bible. Your relationship with God will be greatly strengthened!!
I send encouragement to all readers here who are saying to themselves ... ok, maybe one more time I will give this a try. Be patient! Walk slowly but steadily. Only one chapter every day. And you will be surprised about how much progress you make!!
Blessings!!!
