Hello all, so in one of my 1st posts I described my experiences (1 in particular)with the concept known as deja vu, as said in that earlier post I've been had various moment over the years where I have noticed this event and sometimes it was scary just how familiar some experiences where. The Bible doesn't really mention deja vu at all so I did some research and found 2 distinct medical reasons for this to be happening:
1. my brain has trouble processing short-term memory
2. it could be the early warning to epilepsy later in life (some people suffering with epilepsy mention moments of deja vu before an episode)
So with all this info I've gathered I've still wondered if maybe I overlooked something about deja vu and any connection to Christianity. With all this in mind I would love to hear anyone's thoughts or advice on this matter, because as it stands right now I see this as a medical issue or perhaps deception/attacks from the enemy.

I have experienced it, one time I told a friend of mine what was going to be said (verbatim) by a speaker seconds before they said it. (unrehearsed self introductions)

One of the early leaders of the Catholic Charismatic movement said it is because we are eternal beings that part of us lives outside of time and we can occasionally see stuff.

As a Christian it can be normal to be shown future events. I have had it happen quite a few times. However I prayed that God would show me future events in a prophetic kind of way, and God did that. I would often be shown something that would happen as a result of prayer. I would be praying that a certain person would be blessed, and God would show me how he planned to bless them. As an example I had a client that I prayed for continually, God showed me he was going to put their business on TV, a TV station approached the business and yes they were put on TV. It has happened when praying for other things as well. Some times if we have a interest in the prophetic God will give us snippets of the future to prick our interest. But as in most spiritual areas there is always a counterfeit, and the devil can also give premonitions to a believer quite easily. We need to be looking at the fruit of a premonition does it glorify God, or does it bring fear. If fear the individual premonition has most like come from a devil. If it helps a person, blesses them, then it has probably come from God.

Honestly the advice you've given me not only makes a lot of sense but is very helpful/hopeful, most of my deja vu is just familiarity but when I believe I'm being shown a future event...they're mostly fear inducing. So what you said about weather these moments are bringing hope or fear is a great way of determining if its a trick of the enemy, or true message from God.

I found this thread during a search to see if anyone has experienced deja vue as a premonition of events to come. I’m a Christian, newly choosing to faithfully follow Jesus, but I’ve considered myself a Christian for many years. I’m curious if you or anyone else has had experiences similar to my own. Without going into too much detail, I have what my husband and I call “feelings” that present as a deja vue type feeling, with increasing frequency, until a major (usually tragic) event occurs in our lives. One of the strongest examples is this: the deja vue episodes continually increased for a few weeks, until one day I was struck with the feeling so hard I nearly blacked out at work (no joke). I went home that night and told my husband, and not even a couple hours later, we received a phone call about my niece. She had suddenly become sick, her heart stopped, she was revived, and put on life support. She died the next day. She was only four years old. At this point, while I had always paid attention to my “feelings”, I took them much more seriously. The aforementioned event took place years ago, and since then, there have been countless times I’ve experienced something major after having my “feelings”. It always hits me out of the blue, I’m not looking for this, and honestly it’s a little frightening. Is it from a God? Is there any biblical reference to something like this happening? It’s always something personally related to my life, not outside my direct relations with family or friends. I’d love to know if this is something you or anyone else has experience

I don't think it is naturally one thing or the other. I can be a nudging of the spirit, or a bad memory, or a health problem. There are many things that could cause deja vu.

first of all i am sorry for your loss, i've had these feelings for a very long time such as yourself and in that time have done some research and asked around. the best advice i've been given was that if a vision or message comes from God it will not cause fear but give hope, even if its a "do (or continue to do) this and bad will happen, but do this and good will happen" type message it still gives a message of hope because in the case of drug use or another harmful vice it gives you the instructions for a hopeful and better future. we as Christians are always at spiritual war so we must pray about these things constantly and study God's word in the Bible, because the enemy wants us fearful and will attack you with these things so keep this in mind that if they cause fear with no option of hope or betterment its likely a spiritual attack. my best advice is to ask your local pastor about this in some 1-on-1 time, and i understand talking about this may seem awkward because of it at its core is disusing almost supernatural occurrences. but don't fear that do research ask the members of your church family like i did along with prayer, reading God's word and meditating on it and you will find your answer and comfort

Ive had some extremely unusual deja Vu experiences, is there anyone who can talk with me about this?
Well in my experience its always best to sit down and talk truthfully with a person you conciser a spiritual mentor (such as a pastor), or a group of individuals well versed in the word like a Bible study group. Of course if you ask your question on here like I did you'll be sure to receive advice, all of the advice I received on this topic came from replies and discussion from my initial post. Of course I also mentioned before that there are physical health aspects that this can possibly be led to again mentioned in my initial post on the topic
