• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

This is a rumor that they are very good at math and so are children with autism?

No link with Schizophrenia. Symptoms of schizophrenia are more typically about thought disorder than enhanced abilities. Some people with bipolar disorder are high achievers (Churchill, Beethoven maybe etc). Autism is a very broad spectrum - some autistic people are highly skilled in a particular area but it doesn’t necessarily follow.

It was hard for me growing up i had epilepsy petit mal seizures about 200 or more a day. I was in special ed classes for this reason growing up i was in only the 2nd percentile meaning 98 percent of children my own age had higher academic scores than me in nearly every subject. Early on however I was stated to nearly excel in math and went to regular paced math classes early on before switching to all regular paced classes in fourth grade. I did well in math or decent all through school, in college however i never really got above a D in a math class maybe I did not try hard enough. Today I have a bachelors in psychology and have developed a love for reading the most books I have often read about 2 books a week as discipline, but lately with my condition I don't have the focus I use to. I still am reading and finishing about a book every 2 weeks. I have studied my Bible many times, and i love reading, i read for hours a day at times, but not always and really lately I can't do much with focus sometimes medication works other times not, and the one medication that helped with focus my current doctor won't prescribe for some reason.

The medication that helped with focus was Clozapam. I am on Depokate now, Lexapro and Loxapine.
