Does anyone here have any experience with wigs that are not worn for costume play but for hair loss? One of my sweetest friends was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and is seeking suggestions for heat-resistant synthetic or human hair wigs that are under $1200. Some of my adult friends who are observant Jews wear wigs because that is a custom for married women, but many of the brands they love, such as Follea, are dauntingly expensive. It's more sensible for them to spend so much since it's a long-term investment, whereas with my friend her hair will grow back within a year, so she can't justify spending several thousand dollars for a wig. Her insurance will reimburse part of the wig cost, but there's a cap. She's also looking for a wig that is an age-appropriate style since she's only 18. Her prognosis is excellent, so she's in good spirits about her health, but crushed about the hair loss. I'd love to be able to pass along any recommendations anyone may have for her!
