Sin is also not doing/teaching/saying what we know is Good and Truth.

Heb 3:12-15 is exhorting believers to remain in His doctrines and His plan for their lives.

Funny/ironic that these verse are even brought up since they are speaking of those believers who have lost their ASSURANCE in Christ. John 10:28
New American Standard Bible
For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end,

We are not partakers with Christ if we have lost our assurance/security in Him. Still saved, but back in diapers.

It seems that most people who are working for salvation would love to go back to a life of sin.

Seems that folks who have even a tiny bit of His grace understood..............run from sin rather than wanting to go back to it.
Galatians 5:17, compare 1 John 3:9...I cannot do the things that I would, which is to sin. I very much identify with my flesh; but I don't obey it, i.e. what I want to do in my flesh because the Spirit of Jesus within me is Lord. This is opposed to comparing Galatians 5:17 to Romans 7:19 for the carnal believer, who obeys his flesh but is afflicted by his conscience over it, and would live holy but finds he can't: I believe this is because he doesn't recognize the evil of who he is in the old man and isn't submitted in his behaviour to the Lordship of Christ.

also, continued from #501, your explanation is not good enough for me...of Hebrews 3:12-15...context doesn't ever nullify the plain meaning of what it is in context of. It is also clear from context that we must keep our rejoicing of hope FIRM UNTO THE END.

I am a sinner saved by His grace. Growing in His grace and knowledge.
I can only love you for saying that. I once committed a deliberate and willful sin because someone made a statement like that from the pulpit. I think that Jude 1:3-4 NIV addresses your statement though.

I guess I don't have to read the rest of my Bible then...

John 5:39-40 ;)

The Bible and living “by the Bible” doesn’t save a single Soul...

Only JESUS saves... Ephesians 2:8-9... and... above all...

He who knew NO sin became SIN that sinners could be declared righteous...

See, that is the counterfeit of satan. Skip the gospel ( Now the whole book is out of context) and stick to the thou shalt's and thou shalt not's for salvation.

John 5:39~~New American Standard Bible

Interesting you bring this sin up. Because Jude describes these folks as "sneaking in" or "nobody notices this leaven."

Seems that a blatant, openly sinning person would be obvious?

Is the bride of Christ without spot and blemish even when there is spot and blemish in the way that some live, who claim to be in the bride of Christ?
Not right now. But then have you not read that "it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." 1 John 3:2

Pure by who?

Your flesh or HIS?

Who’s work... yours or HIS?

Are you carnally free of Law transgression?

Body, Mind, Heart and Soul?

For a living and saving faith to enter, every false assurance must be stripped away. High-minded confidence (presumption) must be destroyed before a man can place his faith wholly in Christ to save him, not only from the penalty of sin, but its power and its presence.
So we must first strip away sin in order that we can place our faith in Him to save us.

What you believe just keeps getting more and more clear.
And he who hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, EVEN AS HE IS PURE. the very next verse.
And your point is what? We all believe in the ongoing work of sanctification. We just don't believe sanctifying works save us - either those of the Lord (different ministry) or our own.

No; Jesus catches the fish and then He cleans them. The point is that He cleans them!
