Hi all, I was talking to a Ghanaian preacher yesterday and what he taught me was very edifying but one thing he said has left me confused

He told me a story about a young christian who was having sex with many women and attending church, and one day when he was having sex with one of his women he died suddenly in the bed, during the act, and the man said that he went to hell

(how does he know he went to hell)?

I was left feeling condemned and i began to question my salvation, because for the first few years after becoming a christian I was still commiting sexual immorality on a regular basis, I have since repented and left that behind but I cant help but wonder two things

1. is this story likely to be true? Would God really kill a man during the act before he has a chance to repent

2. if it is true, why did God not smote me during my years of rebellion?

Christianity that misunderstands how God uses sex as a metaphor for Spiritual fidelity to Him ... thinks sexual activity is God’s pet peeve...

This is superstitious... ignorant prattle... that leads to unhealthy sexual obsession and negative sexual understanding.

If God doesn’t smite a child molestor... does that mean He’s giving His approval?

The logic is horribly flawed!

Any Christianity that boils down to behavior modification and carnal control is a SLAP in God’s face that takes His Name in true vain!

There are plenty of self behavior control religions out there that do the same... and outshine churchianities gross abuse of humanity...

Our battle is not against flesh and blood!

There is so little Love for others in the “be as good as me crowd”... and the “let me shape you as if I were God” crowd.

Cookie cutter Christianity is bovine excrement!

Jesus is about our relationship with Him and He died and rose so He could know us as we truly are!

It's a possibility but, we are not sure regarding this?

But a Christian knows I would not want to test the waters just to see what might happen. We finally have learned not to play around with sin.

Remembering (Repent) should have been my middle name.

1. God can take the life of anyone at any time. life belongs to Him and He owes us nothing.

2. let's take that logic a bit further and ask why doesn't God just send us all to hell right now since we all have sinned and fallen short of His glory?

Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:5)

Africans love making God like one of their demon Gods, who goes around punishing people. God doesn't go around killing people whose choices in life He doesn't like. He simply states that "what you sow you shall reap". That reaping will happen slowly in this life and very fast in the afterlife (unless you get saved). That man didn't die directly because of his sin. He might have died because some of the women he slept with cursed him. He might have died partially because he felt bad (like the husband of Abigail). Or it might have been a coincidence. Many men have heart attacks during sex because its physically demanding.

He might or might not have been taken out by God for his sexual immoralities, but without repentance and obedience it seems likely that he would end up in h-ll anyway. But God is merciful as well as well as a judger of man’s sins.

However, Revelation 19 seems to show that fornication is a great evil:

2) For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great harlot, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
3) And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

And, Revelation 14 shows the “winepress of the wrath of God” –

18) And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
19) And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

Much of the song “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” was based on passages in Rev 14 and 19. First verse:

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:
His truth is marching on.

Ghana is very backwards in regards to Christanity. This a country with faith camps that chain up disabled people because they belive the disability is caused by sin.

excuse me?
Much of native African spiritual life revolves around the idea of appeasing angry "gods". I'm sure you've read about this. When these same people become Christians, they still tend to see this new God in light of their previous dogmas.

People can die anywhere. I just read tragic tales about people young and old who died during intercourse. One ought not risk sex with a prostitute on the day one dies.

It is like the thief who thought, "No one can catch me." He was hit by a truck.

Ben... there is only ONE Christ.. Messiah. And He is the only one that took your place for ALL the sins you did will do. This does not give us the right to sin. Yet He can not die again. IT IS FINISHED. Now.. its wise to ask but in the end we must work out our own salvation. NO ONE here can save you and NO ONE hear has all the answers.

What we do is follow WHAT IS WRITTEN...so you said you felt condemned. So that FEELING never came from God for HE said "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus". He does not judge you nor condemn you. HE ALREADY DIED! From everything I read and everything my Father has ever taught me.. the only reason I would never enter heaven is if I rejected His only son. Sin.. = death in this world. The wages of sin is death. And since its written we all have sin and if we say we dont we deceive our selfs and the truth is not in us. Yet. the word says NO SIN will enter heaven. Fact.. none will.

The FLESH has not been changed yet.. WHAT did Christ death do? What was made NEW aka born from above aka born again? Was it not your SPIRIT? That SPIRIT can not sin. Now we under stand what "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." Can not sin... its NEVER talking about the flesh. Which LOVES to sin.. the things I want to do I dont do.. what I dont want to do I do. So.. Christ FREED us from SIN. SIN no longer are we bound to. It can not any longer have a hold on us as it does to those that do not know Him..

This is how I read and understand it :) So.. if you missed it.. goofed up.. just go to Him and tell Him what you did.. reflect on it.. and repent. Ask Him for help.. He is not like man.. He is FAITHFUL when we are not.. So He will WILL forgive you and CLEANS YOU from ALL unrighteousness. For me I listen yet I do not move or act or do what some MAN/WOMAN says in this world. Its what HE says in HIS WORD!

So if you do not understand something.. take the time and ASK HIM about it. and WAIT on the lord but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. And keep your MIND on Him.. and when you do.. He will keep you in PERFECT PEACE..because your mind is stayed on HIM! This is NOT based on how you FEEL! See HE is not man nor thinks like one. If He said it shall He not surly do it? He said it.. I BELIEVE period.. and HIS JOY.. not the worlds not yours.. HIS JOY IS your strength. And Christ gave you HIS peace not as the world gives... so rejoice.. you are NOT condemned but FREE.. you sinned? Well we all do.. we just repent..ask Him to help us in temptation and HE MAKES A WAY OUT EVERY TIME!.. and we try not to keep doing that sin..

I believe it is a load of rubbish. A God of love would not kill a person. He would have wanted the man to come into a relationship with his son Jesus.
PROVERBS.1: =
23 Turn at my rebuke;
Surely I will pour out my spirit on you;
I will make my words known to you.
24 Because I have called and you refused,
I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,
25 Because you disdained all my counsel,
And would have none of my rebuke,
26 I also will laugh at your calamity;
I will mock when your terror comes,

27 When your terror comes like a storm,
And your destruction comes like a whirlwind,
When distress and anguish come upon you.

28 “Then they will call on me, but I will not answer;
They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.
29 Because they hated knowledge
And did not choose the fear of the Lord,
30 They would have none of my counsel
And despised my every rebuke.
31 Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way,
And be filled to the full with their own fancies.
32 For the turning away of the simple will slay them,
And the complacency of fools will destroy them;
33 But whoever listens to me will dwell safely,
And will be secure, without fear of evil.”
.
1CORINTHIANS.5: =
Immorality Defiles the Church
5:1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles—that a man has his father’s wife! 2 And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you. 3 For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed.

4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5 deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

hi Ben Collyer,

Using the idea of “barbarism” to promote the extreme of “permissive sin” might not be what God’s mercy and judgement will be actually based on. Likewise, using the idea of “permissive sin” to promote the extreme of “barbarism” might also be deceptive.

An example of “permissive sin” allowing “barbarism” is the muslim and African immigrants raping of many European women, and getting away with it because of permissive racial politics.

By “permissive sin” being promoted since after ww2 to try to counter the barbarism of the brutality of war, -- are “permissive sin” and “barbarism” two sides of the same coin? Is satan using one to justify the other?

Blade’s post about “walking in the spirit” reflects the verse in Romans 8 –

1) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
