Luke 19:11-27
As they heard these things, he proceeded to tell a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately. 12He said therefore, “A nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return. 13Calling ten of his servants,a he gave them ten minas,b and said to them, ‘Engage in business until I come.’ 14But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to reign over us.’ 15When he returned, having received the kingdom, he ordered these servants to whom he had given the money to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by doing business. 16The first came before him, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten minas more.’ 17And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant!c Because you have been faithful in a very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.’ 18And the second came, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made five minas.’ 19And he said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’ 20Then another came, saying, ‘Lord, here is your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief; 21for I was afraid of you, because you are a severe man. You take what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’ 22He said to him, ‘I will condemn you with your own words, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a severe man, taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow? 23Why then did you not put my money in the bank, and at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’ 24And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to the one who has the ten minas.’ 25And they said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’ 26‘I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 27But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them before me.’”

1.) Luke 19:12
The nobleman is Jesus. The nobleman going to a far country to receive a kingdom is the resurrection and ascension of Christ to the Father. The return, is well, the return of Christ.

a.) Daniel 7:13-14 “I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven
there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. 14 And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.

2.) Luke 19:13
The minas given to the servants are the secrets of the kingdom of heaven. The servants are the disciples. The "engaging in business" is the spreading of the gospel and the kingdom of heaven.

a.) Matthew 13:11-12 And he answered them, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. 12For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.

b.) Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

3.) Luke 19:14
The citizens who hate the king and do not want him to reign over them are the unbelieving Jews who rejected Christ.

a.) John 19:15-16 They cried out, “Away with him, away with him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.” 16So he delivered him over to them to be crucified.

4.) Luke 19:15-19
The servants that multiplied the 1 mina into 10 and 5 minas, respectively, are the disciples who understood the secrets of the kingdom of heaven and produced fruit. They are rewarded at the kings coming with authority over cities.

a.) Matthew 13:23 But the seed sown on good soil is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and produces a crop—a hundredfold, sixtyfold, or thirtyfold.”

b.) Revelation 2:26 And to the one who is victorious and continues in My work until the end, I will give authority over the nations.

5.) Luke 19:15-25
The servant that hid his 1 mina and did nothing with it is the disciple that hid his knowledge of the kingdom of heaven and did not engage in business because he was afraid.

a.) Matthew 13:20-22 The seed sown on rocky ground is the one who hears the word and promptly receives it with joy. 21But since he has no root, he remains for only a season. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away. 22The seed sown among the thorns is the one who hears the word, but the worries of this world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

6.) Luke 19:26
The servants who were given the secrets of the kingdom of heaven and preached it until the king's coming were rewarded. And to those who were not given to know the secrets of the kingdom, their lives were taken from them.

a.) Matthew 13:11-12 And he answered them, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. 12For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.

7.) Luke 19:27
The enemies of the king who did not want him to reign over the them are the citizens from the beginning of the parable (unbelieving Jews who rejected Christ). They were slaughtered when the king returned. Unfaithful, old covenant israel, was destroyed in 70AD, along with the temple that had already been made desolate by Christ.

a.) Matthew 23:35-38 And so upon you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 36Truly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling! 38Look, your house is left to you desolate.

b.) Luke 19:44 They will level you to the ground—you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation from God.”

20Then another came, saying, ‘Lord, here is your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief; 21for I was afraid of you, because you are a severe man. You take what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’ 22He said to him, ‘I will condemn you with your own words, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a severe man, taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow? 23Why then did you not put my money in the bank, and at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’
Please forgive me if I'm sidetracking a bit, but I got stuck on this part...

I suppose we should assume that the master is Jesus. In verse 22 he said:
22He said to him, ‘I will condemn you with your own words, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a severe man, taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow?

Notice the question mark at the end.
(I would be curious if anyone here could show whether that question mark would appear in the Greek)
I had always thought that he was agreeing that he was harsh, severe and greedy. But the question mark changes the meaning. If he said the sentence in the form of a question, he was insinuating that the person asking it ASSUMED he was harsh, severe and greedy when he wasn't at all.
It would be like if someone you only met once or twice told other people that you were stuck up. You would be offended because you are not that way. Suppose you ran into them and confronted them.
Imagine saying "so you knew that I was stuck up, eh?"

Do you get what I am saying here?
Could it be that Jesus is upset with those who think that he is actually harsh and demanding? In Matthew 11:29 he says that he is gentle and humble in heart.
