What came to mind for me when I saw the title, is that "love" is "sacrificial". It's not the "warm fuzzies" NOR is it "easy".

That's why I had to chuckle when I read Mskriskris' post.

She hit da nail on da head.

:D

Im trying to come with a better post, but I think that summed it up too well lol

...in thinkin' more about this question, what comes to mind, is that the "battlefield" is ultimately against Satan, who is the destroyer of unity of families and loved ones, especially husband and wife.

Is love a struggle, is it hard? What do you think?
ABSOLUTELY! Just look at Jesus, What he did wasn't easy, but it was Love--real, true, love. What he did for us is the only standing definition of what love is.

Yep, sounds like the singer really needs to find the love of God.

Yes.....many many are trapped in the same kind of "spider web" as this singer...

it's all IN this culture.

W2L, when people live in the flesh of this world, then the answer to the question "Is love a battlefield?" is an unequivocal yes.

In Christ we are loved (John 3:16) constantly and unconditionally (Isaiah 43:4). In Christ we are controlled by His love (2 Corinthians 12:10). In Christ we are inseparable from His love (Romans 8:35)...

4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. —1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NASB)
Is this the type of love about which you inquire?

True, its like they are thinking they are fighting for love, but the reality is that they are fighting against it

I agree. There is a profound misconception of what real and true love is.

I agree. Love comes from God, and our path is the cross, which isn't always easy.

Is love a struggle, is it hard? What do you think?
1 Corinthians 7:28

It’s more than a struggle but it’s what builds us. In marriage we tend to gain the following

Patience
Forgiveness
Perseverance
Gentleness
Selflessness
Thoughtfulness
Honour
Faithfulness

We only gain these things from interaction, besides, if it was all plain sailing it would make for 1 boring marriage

Is love a struggle, is it hard? What do you think?
W2L, when you ask "Is love a battlefield?" and "Is love a struggle, is it hard?" ... remember the Bible's warning holds true:

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: —1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)

We should never make the devil the sole focus of our attention (for Christ alone is worthy of that honor). However, we must be alert to the devil's schemes and we must be on guard against his lies and attacks. Satan's primary goal is to block God's plans in every way he possibly can and thereby separate man from God.

Galatians 5:13-15 assures us within the good news of Christ is a call to freedom (liberty). God's revealed will, for all of us, is that we have the opportunity, the ability, and the desire to do what will give us the greatest satisfaction now and in the future, for eternity. The only activity which we can perform in freedom is love.

"For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another." (v. 5:13)

This love is not optional. It is commanded.

"You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

We are called in our freedom to desire and seek the happiness of others with the same zeal as we seek our own. If we take this command seriously, which it is contrary to our natural man's inclinations, it seems utterly impossible. That we should rise each morning and feel as much concern for another's needs as for our own, seems beyond our power. If this is the Christian life (caring for others as we care for ourselves) then it's hard, and we feel hopeless to ever live it out.

The Apostle Paul's answer to this discouragement is found in Galatians 5:16-18. We are called to learn to "walk by the Spirit" (v. 16). When the Christian life looks hard, remember we are not called to live it by ourselves. We are called to live by the Spirit of God.

The command of love isn't a new legalistic burden hoisted upon our backs; it happens freely when we walk by the Spirit. People who try to love without relying on God's Spirit wind up trying to fill their own emptiness rather than sharing their fullness. When we walk not in the Spirit of God, our love ceases to be love. When we do not walk by the Spirit, love is not easy for us.

The good news is that it's not primarily our work, but God's. We must learn to "walk by the Spirit."
