42 posts per hour per day (with 8 hours of "off time" factored in, which is probably way more than actual) 365 days a year. I used to be impressed by his post count, though it is still pretty impressive, until I saw that the majority of his posts are in the counting threads.

IMO, for some reason, post count, seemed to make AV feel like he was an authority and because of his count, his opinion was somehow more valid. He would often critique other people who disagreed with him and would point out their opinion was not valid, because they had so few posts.
Manufactured credibility, is important to some.

You may be right - there are quite a few attention-seekers on these forums.Maybe he left, because more people started to tune him out. I think attention was a big driver for him.
