• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I've lived in Texas all my life. Here, I've been mocked, cursed at, and generally verbally persecuted for being a Christian.
But for some bizarre reason, I have been condemned as a blasphemous heretic for not liking my time here in Texas.
The people who have condemned me live in Wisconsin, New Hampshire, and other states.

The fact that those who condemn me do so out of total ignorance makes me feel worse.

If we can keep our consciences clear, insults should roll right off us. The people who really suffer are those who make the insults:

But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, `You fool!' shall be liable to the hell of fire. Matt 5:22 RSV

Why would you let what someone else says about you bother you?
Rejoice that you get to be persecuted for Christ. Great is your reward. Matthew 5:11-12
In Acts Peter was told not to preach in the name of Jesus Christ and the Pharisees beat him and his friends.
And they went away rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. Acts 5:40-41

Seems odd doesn't it, people in other countries think of and call us a "Christian nation", but those of us living here know better. It's even difficult to get along with other Christians. Take heart though, you're not alone, and consider it evidence of your faith. I've dealt with the same without even verbally expressing the faith. Somehow they figure it out without me saying a word. Take heart, in the Scriptures Christ told his disciples what the cost would be, and since we're still breathing I suppose we should consider it a blessing.

But for some bizarre reason, I have been condemned as a blasphemous heretic for not liking my time here in Texas. The people who have condemned me live in Wisconsin, New Hampshire, and other states.

People without much struggle and difficulties in their living situations and life, can hardly relate to those that do. They think simple answers with simple solutions can solve complicated issues, but guess what? They wrong, they know not of what they speak, they are not in the know.

The fact that those who condemn me do so out of total ignorance makes me feel worse.

Cheer up, there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Consider this:

1 Cor 1:18 "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” 20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men." Please don't forget to pass all those horrible daggers they are throwing at you to Jesus before they cut you up and have you for breakfast. And also to pray for those people that Jesus may warm their cold loveless hearts with His goodness and love instead so you have them as family. That is the best way to stay safe when people persecute you as a Christian i found. Try let Jesus love them to death.

I'm more bothered by Christians insulting me. Makes me question if I am somehow sinning by not liking it here in Texas.
