I have the model 110, both in .300 Win Mag and .308 Win. I like them both. Each has done well on my various hunting trips
I'm contemplating a rifle for longer range target shooting; something that won't break the bank. Lots of cheap .308 ammo available; but the .300 does reach further. Both would need to be hand-loaded for accuracy.

What do we shoot at, or what guns do we use to shoot whatever we're shooting at?
"What a pity it is that so much youth is wasted on young people, who don’t know by experience how to make the best use of it.—Springfield Union, December 1931." I thought that was from It's a Wonderful Life." Ohhh, wait. No. But the old man on the porch who was smoking his pipe and said, "Why don't you kiss her? Awwww, youth is wasted on the wrong people."

What do you consider long range? We have a 200-600 yard range in Houston but I hunt hogs and figure that if I have to go that far to collect the target I would forget what I was going there for by the time I got half way. So, I just stage at 100 yards and figure the BDC on my scope is good enough.

I have a lot of various pistols, rifles, and shotguns, but the most common ones I shoot are my G35 GSSF match pistol, my G29 (which was my GSSF pistol and I will use next match as well to test a new sighting system), and my Marlin 1894 in .45 Colt.

O.K...., I got carried away. But every one of them was a bargain in some way, and half of them were projects where I took them apart and did some repairs and scraped the stocks and refinished them. And some my wife claims as hers, but she is just kidding. They are all mine. LOL

Wow, that is nice. And you shot that group with a Glock? Impressive.

My G29 is a weird pistol. It can do an inch at 25yds.

I owned a few Glocks in the late 90's and got tired of them; found other pistols that felt better in my hand and had better triggers, and were more accurate, so I got rid of them.

I bought the G29 since a 10mm as a carry pistol in the woods made a lot of sense (I carry a Ruger Blackhawk Bisley in .45 Colt in grizzly country which is about 40 miles East of here).

I couldn't believe how accurate the G29 was. Then a buddy suggested I should shoot in the Glock Shooting Sports Foundation (GSSF) match about 45 miles away. So I did. Did really well and the other guys in the match said I should switch to a 9mm to be more competitive. So I bought a G19. Couldn't hardly get a 2" group at 25yds out of it and the trigger was awful compared to the G29.

Sold it and bought the G35. It struggles to get under 2" and the trigger took a lot of work. But, it is my dedicated match pistol and I shot a 492 with it in the February match.

I actually bought a reflex sight set-up and put it on the G29 to try out at the April match as my aging eyes are killing me at the 25yd targets.

But, yes, the G29 is capable...

Shoot a 10mm with that kind of accuracy and there is no reason to look elsewhere. I am not a Glock fan, but that is the first time I have seen a grouping like that from a Glock. (Not that anybody else couldn't) I think my Ruger SR9 is about that good but only on a good day with the sun at just he right angle and the humidity around 62.55959%.

Excellent grouping there. I am selling my Springfield xds 9mm. It groups pretty good but I don't like the trigger on it.
I bought a cheap sccy 9mm to take fishing and was actually impressed by this cheap gun. I cut a decent group with it, American made and a lifetime warranty. Only problem is a looong trigger pull. I wound up trading it off and getting a Glock 36 but wasn't to happy with it ether so I don't know what I want now. So many choices out there. I have never tried a kahr, May go test drive one soon. :]

I got a Springfield XDS .45 with the middle magazine. Using 185 grain HP reduces recoil and improves grouping over the 230 grain.
I like the 45, Better on a charging hog than a 9. I want something I can conceal well enough that I can wear even when I am preaching.
I carry a double barrel 22 mag derringer in my pocket most times but it is definitely a close up and personal piece with not much accuracy past 5 yds.
I know some people will probably jump on me for carrying while I preach. But I have a CCP and I would most definitely without any question protect the flock.

I think the 300 yard completions would be fun. I used to vaporize ground hogs at that range with a .22-.250. That was fun!

My XDS 40 is my concealed carry weapon. I agree the trigger is a little heavy, but I bought mine to replace a S&W Shield that came with a bad barrel. I sent it back to the factory and two months later it arrived with another barrel that, while better, still couldn't group better than 8" at 25yds.

I want something I can conceal well enough that I can wear even when I am preaching.

The new Sig P365 is all the rage now. It is incredibly compact and holds ten rounds. They are about impossible to find now, but from what I've read, they are worth the wait...

Sig-Sauer-P365-e1517336329218.jpg

And my XDS is also a unicorn gun in that it will shoot under 2" at 25yds all day long and with whatever ammo I feed it. It's pretty amazing.

Well, our pastor arranged for a free seminar given to churches and the like here in Tomball, TX. They have a special program for churches. Of course, it is a company that benefits from selling policies, but they did give a reasonable and decent talk on two parts: A. What to do as a church in a live shooter situation. B. The current and most asked questions about the legal side of concealed carry. Being already versed in both we (my wife is involved too) went in order to hear what our congregation was hearing so that we would know what to expect if something happened. No, I wouldn't hold it against you one little bit for carrying. I would suggest measuring the distance from the pulpit to the door and practicing at that range every time. Also having a "fire" drill helps a lot, even if you need to do it during a service. There are sermons on Semper Paratus for the church in the Bible. (We are a solid KJV *non-affiliated church. *I think that is what we call it.)

I attended a "watchdogs" training seminar. It is for churches and offer's tips on what to do in an active shooter scenario and also on where to place certain ccp individuals that are in your church so they are by the doors of the building.
I do not have to worry in that dept. Every male in our church carries, We live in an area that we carry guns like most people carry keys. Lol. I am blessed.

Amen to that. Tomball, TX is sort of like that. Or, it was. But the cancer of growth is taking us over and too many metro types are moving in. One day I had stopped on a back road and had set up a pallet with targets. I was shooting a pellet rifle to sight in the scope when two black and whites suddenly whipped up to answer complaints of a man with a gun shooting at cars. Of course, once they figured it out they were o.k. but still it was ridiculous. In fact, when a group of kids walked by on the road I stopped and set everything aside until they had passed. When a car approached I made sure to lay the air rifle down and wait until they were out of sight. Still, we do have a goodly Christian community here. My only prayer is that with this growth we get the churches they need. I don't want to see our church become infected by progressive ideology where man decides who and what God is and what Jesus said. Our solid and Biblical understanding of the tenets of our Lord and Savior has been the bread and butter of our church. Actually it just dawned on me. "If you can't find it in the Bible, and a common man can't understand it, chances are it was whipped up in the pots and pans of somebody elses kitchen."

Amen, You are correct Sir. If it's not in the Word then it can't stand. That is how we are to test the spirits. I to fear the biblical truth is being dropped in area churches. This worries me greatly.
I love everyone and we welcome all, however I refuse to "water" down the bible because I have to stand before God one day and give account. I don't wanna say I refused to share the truth simply because I didn't want to offend anyone.
I tell them the truth and then put my arm around them in love and tell them I will help them and pray with them and love them until the end.
PS we have church shoots around here. We have a big cookout and set up targets and drag out the guns. We have everything imaginable show up. LOL It's loads of fun and teaches the kids safety and respect with a firearm.
