My memory is fuzzy but at this equivalent point, Ken Starr had at least turned up a few things.

This whole Russia conspiracy theory really has no basis to it whatsoever.

With Watergate, on this timeline there were people in prison and a President resigned.

It's been forever since I read up on Watergate but my impression was the minute the investigation started, high ranking members of the administration began cutting deals instantly. That's one reason things unraveled so quickly.

Obviously nothing like that has happened with President Trump, which is kind of interesting.

I always thought the whole conclusion with Russia to influence the election was going to fall short. Little question the Russians tried to influence, but whether people in the Trump campaign colluded with them, is a different story.

Now, in regards to obstruction and or where the money trail leads, may be a little more interesting to watch.

Unraveling arguably the most powerful Presidential administration in American history in just two years? Yeah, that's pretty quick. Other powerful administrations like Reagan, latter day Clinton, Bush 43 have nothing on the Nixon administration. A more average administration like Trump's would've been done for a long time ago if they had anything significant to hide.

You have determined the relative speed at which a administration will be "done" based on the amount of power it wields using what method?

Watching the right walk things back every time a new piece of the puzzle falls into place is both entertaining and frustrating. No matter what happens or doesn't happen there's always some sad, sorry excuse for why Trump is perfect and it's all the Democrat's fault. Sometimes I wonder what the next excuse will be.

So what will it be, Hislegacy? What will you say when Mueller finally concludes his investigation and drops charges against Trump?

Will you be screeching about a lack of collusion when Mueller presents evidence of obstruction of justice?

Will you be soft-peddling Russian cooperation if it's revealed that Mueller has evidence that Trump coordinated Russian info drops with wikileaks to damage Clinton?

Will you be sticking your fingers in your ears if it's revealed that Trump's cooperation with the Russians was even more direct than that?

Not on Clinton. What was the original investigation about, anyway? As I recall, it never really ended after Travelgate yielded nothing, Whitewater ditto, FBI files ditto, sexual harassment finally gave us Monica Lewinsky and Clinton's stupid denial. How many years did that take?

This whole Russia conspiracy theory really has no basis to it whatsoever.
That is patently false. It may be that there was no illegal activity on the campaign staff, other than what has already been filed, or there may be - the investigation is ongoing so conclusions are premature, either way.

It's been forever since I read up on Watergate but my impression was the minute the investigation started, high ranking members of the administration began cutting deals instantly. That's one reason things unraveled so quickly.
My memory is quite different. No one cut deals and it looked as though Nixon would be clear until John Dean, then Alexander Butterfield mentioned the tapes.

Obviously nothing like that has happened with President Trump, which is kind of interesting.
You haven't been paying attention. George Papadopoulos, Michael Flynn and Rick Gates are said to have made deals. Pressure is on Paul Manafort; he may crack.

This thread and what is happening in the US is NOT about me. Once again, I am just not that important that you have to personally address little ole me. I'm flattered and blushing

WATCH: Conaway: No conclusion on collusion, but 'we found no evidence' in House Intel Committee investigation pic.twitter.com/C7ul3ejXbj
How many times was Sec. Clinton cleared in House Intel Committee investigations into Benghazi! - seven? eight? nine? - yet she never seems to actually be cleared. How does that work?

In the meanwhile, there are the ongoing Senate and Special Prosecutor investigations, the latter of which has resulted in several indictments so far.

It's good the House investigation ended - it was apparently very leaky.

Forgive me, I'm having a bachelor weekend and I'm half in the bag already on this gorgeous Sunday afternoon, so I'm having trouble keeping up, but are we still talking about (one of) the Benghazi investigation(s)?

  • June 17, 1972: The plumbers are arrested at 2:30 a.m. in the process of burglarizing and planting surveillance bugs in the Democratic National Committee offices at the Watergate Building Complex.
90 days later
  • September 15, 1972: Hunt, Liddy, and the Watergate burglars are indicted by a federal grand jury.
Less than 7 months later:
  • January 8, 1973: Five defendants plead guilty as the burglary trial begins. Liddy and James W. McCord Jr. are convicted after the trial.
Four months later
  • April 30, 1973: Senior White House administration officials Ehrlichman, Haldeman, and Richard Kleindienst resign, and John Dean is fired.
June to April is less than a year last I looked.

Note this is when they started looking at the President.

  • July 27 to July 30, 1974: House Judiciary Committee passes Articles of Impeachment.
At this time in the investigation high ranking members of the Presidents team were in jail and the investigation was expanding.

There are zero charges currently having anything to do with the election.

And, less than a year into Trump’s presidency, senior members of his campaign/administration are either awaiting sentence or are indicted. Right on the timeline. That means we should expect Donnie/David/John to fall on his sword in about another year....

Not one charge for collusion or anything has to do with the campaign.

Give it time...as you and I have just demonstrated, this is very similar to the sequence of events in Watergate...and that means Trump would have a little more than a year to go...

And there won’t be charges of “collusion”...it’s not a crime. The charges are likely to relate to obstruction or conspiracy...not to mention money-laundering, treason, etc...
