I post the following because I am not sure in what order in time the following followed.

Scattered then Gathered OR Gathered then Scattered

(Jer 24:9 KJV) And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them.

(Ezek 36:24 KJV) For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.

Once we affirm which came first the next question is why were they gathered then scattered or scattered then gathered?

p.s. anyone who wants to expand the topic into semi-relevant topics is welcome to do so

Both are prophecies concern the fate (scattering) and future (gathering) of the tribes of Israel. Such prophecies are repeated by different bible authors. Scattering in the general sense means to be driven from their homeland; first the Northern Kingdom of "the house of Israel" by the Assyrians, and later the Southern Kingdom of "the house of Judah" by Babylon, and finally Titus.

While some went in all directions eventually they mostly went north into what is now Europe and Russia, thus they will be gathered from the "north country", meaning the countries north of Jerusalem.

Interestingly Genesis 49 reveals the fate and fortune of the tribes in the "last days", generally believed to be the period from the final dispersion of the Jews in 70 A.D. until the return of Christ, and strongly suggests they are 'alive and well' and even identifiable.

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. - Luke 21:24

Now that Jerusalem is looking more and more Israeli, it also is looking that the time of the Gentile church is being fulfilled.

"and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles"

I could google it but I might not get the appropriate answer so I ask it here---

What does "trodden down" mean in this context?

The final desecration and humiliation of the Jews and Jerusalem during the tribulation period just before the return of Christ.

The final desecration and humiliation of the Jews and Jerusalem during the tribulation period just before the return of Christ.

There is another possible outcome. They could ask God for forgiveness and obey all the things He has asked them to do.
Here is a list oif a few of the things He has asked them to do-----
(Deu 24:19 KJV) When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.

(Deu 24:20 KJV) When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

(Deu 24:21 KJV) When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

(Jer 7:6 KJV) If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:

(Jer 22:3 KJV) Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

(Ezek 22:7 KJV) In thee have they set light by father and mother: in the midst of thee have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in thee have they vexed the fatherless and the widow.

(Zec 7:10 KJV) And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

(Exo 22:21 KJV) Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

(Exo 23:9 KJV) Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

(Lev 19:34 KJV) But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

(Lev 25:35 KJV) And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee.

(Deu 1:16 KJV) And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.

(Deu 10:18 KJV) He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.

(Deu 10:19 KJV) Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

If they do the above I truly believe God would forgive them for their past indiscretions and welcome them with open arms. And as a result peace would begin to envelope the world putting an end to wars.

Here is another look at the scattered then gathered

(Ezek 36:17 KJV) Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their ..own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman.

(Ezek 36:18 KJV) Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it.

(Ezek 36:22 KJV) Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.

(Ezek 36:24 KJV) For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.

(Ezek 36:31 KJV) Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

(Ezek 36:32 KJV) Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.

Ezekiel 21:32
Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I the LORD have spoken it.
