I wonder if saying, "Putin cannot be President of the United States," means they would choose him if he could ever be POTUS.
If Putin could ever be the President of the United States, I would vote for Obama again because that would be just as likely of a scenario.

"Putin cannot be President of the United States" is irrelevant in this scenario since this question is about a hypothetical country having an election with the only choice being Putin or Trump.

That actually makes it a much more difficult question. Without knowing how robust a democracy our hypothetical country has and how its government is set up, it's impossible to say which is the lesser of the two evils.

Though honestly, even for the United States, I'm having trouble choosing between them. They're both kleptocrats, so Trump's main selling point is that he's probably too incompetent to actually dismantle the democracy. Still, incompetence cuts both ways. From an international perspective, Putin seems to be less of an unpredictable wildcard and could probably be trusted not to accidentally start a nuclear war in a four year period.

Oh my. I learned a new word today: kleptocrats! That's great. I love it. ^_^

Fat Nixon inherited peace and prosperity.I could pick a random number out of the phone book and find somebody better. As a man he Is disgusting. As a president he is ignorant. We should demand better.
Nixon inherited the Viet Nam War and inflation. It is true that Donald Trump has committed some sin in his life, but I haven't found anyone yet who hasn't.

Really, I don't understand the point of this question, if there is any point. That incompetent Donald is preferable to his hero Putin as a temporary leader of some imaginary country that either one of them could rule? Yeah, sure, but so what? I would also choose him over Duerte or Abubakar Shekau.

Russia is widely considered to be a kleptocracy.

Oh, yes. I'm quite well aware of that, Arc. The older generation that is still now in power (leftover, really, from the previous Soviet Regime) is definitely still full of kleptocrats.

It's stupid because Putin cannot be president of the United States, so there is no choice to be made. Why not ask if we would rather have a dead skunk be president - makes as much sense.

Skunk 2020...!

Both choices are so horrendously bad that I wouldn't even vote.

You can't choose between two choices that bad. It's simply a non-question.
