Greetings, Elisha James.
I recommend a few things, but let me start with the Gospel...Jesus, the Christ, the Son of the Living God, came down from Heaven to earth, lived a perfect, sinless life as a man, became the final sacrifice to pay for the sin of the whole world (for without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins), He was buried, and on the third day He rose again from the dead, all according to Holy Scripture. If/when you believe it, then the Bible says you HAVE eternal life as a free gift, and you may KNOW it.
That same God is not willing that any should perish (die in their sins). In His hand is your breath, your movement, and your very being. He is the Light that lit you up when you entered into the world, and by Him you were created and are this day preserved. God does not make mistakes. He is perfect. He did not create you in vain, but for a purpose. I believe that purpose is so that you may know Him as your good heavenly Father, and to enjoy and appreciate how much He really does love you when you realize He really is that good to forgive you of your sins and reconcile you to Himself.
Here are some things from the Scripture that come to mind that may help you in this fight, no, this WAR against sin: 1) Submit to Almighty God. Meditate on that, and keep meditating on that, calling on the name of the LORD to deliver you from evil. His name is JESUS. Continue believing He will deliver you, endeavoring not to yield the members of your body to act on the temptation. I am here to tell you that no matter how bad it gets, the temptation is temporal! It cannot last if you submit to God and continue to submit to God. The LORD is eternal, powerful, and able to save you from temptation and the sins it leads to. He was tempted at all points like as we are, yet without sin. So He has compassion on us who go through it and trust in Him.; 2) Recognize why you might be going through temptation in the first place. The Bible says we are tempted when we are drawn away of the lust of our own flesh. You can ask God not to lead you into temptation, and to deliver you from evil, expecting Him to do exactly what you ask because it is in accordance with His will. Believe that the God that created you did not create you to be a servant of sin, but a servant of God which is a high honour. You, believing and knowing you are not a servant of sin, are free to not serve sin with your mortal body; 3) FLEE fornication! inappropriate contentography is fornication, but I think worse, i.e. adultery, prostitution, idolatry, and other things that should just not be described. Run away from it as if for your life (though you are already saved by His grace); 4) Set no wicked thing before your eyes. Take a lesson from King David, whom the Bible describes as a man after God's own heart (
Bible Gateway passage: Psalm 101:3 - King James Version) Turn your eyes away from looking after a woman to lust, and remember that Christ is the Saviour of that woman too; 5) Having experienced the victory that Jesus gives you for waiting on Him to save you, you have a little rest and peace of mind because the temptation flees from you. So you need something to do with your free time! Read and meditate on the Scriptures day and night. I mean it. There is enough reading and study in the Scriptures to fill your whole life. There is no end to the wisdom and knowledge of our holy God, and using the eyes that He gave you to study His Word will help tremendously in this spiritual warfare. The Word of God is your spiritual food, and as you feed your spirit with it, it will grow stronger and stronger, until you find that the flesh no longer can rule your actions, behaviour, i.e. the things that you do. It glorifies God as you overcome the world (lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, and the pride of life) through faith in His beloved Son in whom He is well pleased; 6) Listen to the Word of God being taught. There is an audio Bible online you can listen to (I'm in the Book of Jeremiah at the moment -
Book of Jeremiah - KJV Listen Audio Bible Online). There is also a good resource for sound Bible teaching called Verse by Verse Ministries International (
Bible Studies | Verse By Verse Ministry International). So now seeing and hearing the Word of God will transform and renew your mind. It will change the things you think about and talk about, for the better! 7) If you do fail and act on a temptation, then confess your sin to Him for He is faithful and just to forgive you of your sins and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. He loves you and will abundantly pardon you for trusting in Him.
There is nothing impossible with God. Your mind can be cleaned and you can have a testimony of how God saved you from the darkness of sin, death, hell, fear, into the light of Christ, abundance of life, Heaven, and faith. You overcome the world through the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. It is the will of God and His free gift to you, the believer
I realize this may be a lengthy post, but I thoughtfully considered these things for you and sincerely hope you will find the victory in Jesus. Praise the Lord, for He is good, and His mercy endures forever
