I don't think that's true in the old days when I was young everyone knew that businesses could refuse service to anybody they wanted.

Not sure how old you are?
Maybe you were not even around back then?

Was this business run prior to 1964?

Wait a minute I thought we're always hearing from the (one side) that no one should be able to refuse service to anyone.

It's good for me but, not for you.

I call that ((one-sided.))

Looks like a charming place with the skull and all.

Used to live in Hayward right next to Oakland they were nice places back then. Now they've turned into terrible places to live.

Oakland for quite some time has wanted to legalize practically everything. What a goal to have!

I guess if that happens they will not need police. It will be a crazy free for all. Kind of like the cowboy days with no sheriff in town.

Just think about "Gunsmoke" with no Marshal Dillon.
To be fair, the police is not a protected category in your country.

I think he's saying that that sign does not give you the authority to override the various laws that prevent you from refusing service to protected classes. After the Civil Rights Act of 1964, no amount of signage would allow you to refuse service based on a customer's race, color, religion, or nationality. Back then, and now, you could refuse service for any other reason you chose, except for a few other protected classes that were later amended, e.g. disability or sex.
