He gave hope to those suffering from Lou Gehring's disease.

Indeed. I can't help but think that God will be more merciful in his Judgement with non-believers than many people tend to believe. I don't believe in a God that would sentence a soul who did much good in his life to eternal torture for failing to be convinced that God is who the Church says He is. If that were /that/ important to God, I think He'd have made it a little more obvious. I've seen sincere seekers pray and study and pray and study....and the become Catholic, or Protestant, or Muslim, or agnostic or atheist.

You mean, maybe he should have said something like "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."? Yeah, that would have been helpful. ;)

Perhaps you believe in a God made in your own image then?

Not sure what either of you are on about. The Church has made it quite clear that it is possible for non-believers to be saved.

Mike, you missed "by no fault of their own"...
Rome has never said that people of good will who knowingly reject Christ will be a part of the world to come. Thats a lie or at least twisting the teaching of Rome.

I read you as flirting with the idea that one may live a life good enough to be justified by God the Father without accepting Christ despite knowing the gospels.

The Church is clear. It is very much possible that the Jew, the Muslim, the atheist might be saved through Christ. Nobody knows what Me Hawking was capable of regarding belief. And yes, it is very much a possibility that an otherwise good man might find salvation through Christ in spite of not believing in Him. That doesn’t mean his works justify him but that Christ is merciful. You’re very quick to read words that are not typed.

(Let it be sure once more in this thread that Im not speculating in Hawkings nor anybody elses eternity)

And established a very visible organization called say, the Catholic Church, in which His saving graces are PHYSICALLY present, and while He’s at it, why not make Himself physically present there as well?

That would be AWESOME! ;)

Praying that in last moments of his life embraces the One True Faith, dies in a state of grace and enjoys eternal life in the company of the Blessed Mother and all the Saints forever and ever.

Lord have mercy!

Could you clarify that please?
