This simple analysis does the following:
From the 1st year of Rehoboam unto his 18th year, means 17 full years have passed. Add 17 to the year count.
Ex #2. From Asa's 2nd year to his 27th year, add 25 years to the count.
For now, i am starting with the year of the division of the kingdom. I will get back to Saul, David, and Solomon later.

40th year of Solomon = Rehoboam #1

Year 1 -[XXX] 40th year of Solomon, death Rehoboam began to rule Judah and Jeroboam began to rule the 10 northern tribes (1 Kings 14)

Year 18 - Abijam begins to rule Judah in Jeroboam's 18th year (1 Kings 15:1-2) (3 yrs)
Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat reigned Abijam over Judah. Three years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

Year 20 - Asa begins to rule in Judah Jeroboam's 20th year (1 Kings 15:9-10)(1 year)
* And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned Asa over Judah. And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

Year 21 - Nadab begins to rule Israel in Asa's 2nd year (1 Kings 15:25) (for 2 years)
And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned over Israel two years.

Year 22 - Baasha begins to rule Israel in Asa's 3rd year (1 Kings 15:33) (24 yrs)
In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasha the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years.

Year 45 - Elah begins to rule Israel in Asa's 26th year (1 Kings 16:8) (2 yrs)
In the twenty and sixth year of Asa king of Judah began Elah the son of Baasha to reign over Israel in Tirzah, two years.

Year 46 - Zimri rules Israel for 7 days in Asa's 27th year (1 Kings 16:15). This is also the year Tibni and Omri begin rival reigns in Israel following Zimri's suicide (1 Kings 16:21-22).
Then were the people of Israel divided into two parts: half of the people followed Tibni the son of Ginath, to make him king; and half followed Omri. 22 But the people that followed Omri prevailed against the people that followed Tibni the son of Ginath: so Tibni died, and Omri reigned.

Year 50 - Omri prevails over Tibni and begins the first year of his SOLE reign over Israel in Asa's 31st year (1 Kings 16:22-23)
But the people that followed Omri prevailed against the people that followed Tibni the son of Ginath: so Tibni died, and Omri reigned. *23* In the thirty and first year of Asa king of Judah began Omri to reign over Israel, twelve years: six years reigned he in Tirzah.

Year 57 - Ahab begins to rule Israel in Asa's 38th year (1 Kings 16:29) (22 yrs)
And in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah began Ahab the son of Omri to reign over Israel: and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty and two years.

Year 61 - Jehoshaphat begins to rule Judah in Ahab's 4th year (1 Kings 22:41-42) (25 yrs)
And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel. 42 Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

Year 77 - Ahaziah begins to rule Israel in Jehoshaphat's 17th year (1 Kings 22:51) (2 yrs)
Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.
And died in the 2nd year 83, of Judah's Jehoram (2 Kings 1:17) So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram reigned in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.
Year 78 JJehoram begins to rule Israel in Jehoshaphat's 18th. 2 kings 3:1
Year 82 - JJehoram begins to rule Judah in Jehoram's (of Israel) 5th year (2 Kings 8:16-17). And in the fifth year of AJoram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign. 17Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
Note: despite some ambiguity regarding the reign of Judah's Jehoram, his reign is not critical in determining the duration of the overall timeline.
Year 89- Ahaziah, son of JJehoram begins to rule Judah in Jehoram's (of Israel) 12th year (2 Kings 8:25-26)

Note: it's possible Jehu began to rule in year 90 rather than year 89 since the year Jehu killed Israel's Jehoram is not synchronized to any of Judah's kings and must be inferred from the duration of the reign of Israel's Jehoram.

Year 96 - Jehoash begins to rule Judah in Jehu's 7th year (2 Kings 12:1) In the seventh year of Jehu Jehoash began to reign; and forty years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba.


Year 118 - Jehoahaz begins to rule Israel in Jehoash's (of Judah) 23rd year (2 Kings 13:1)
In the three and twentieth year of JJoash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years.

Year 132 - IJehoash begins to rule Israel in Jehoash's (of Judah) 37th year (2 Kings 13:10)
In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years.

Year 133 - Amaziah begins to rule Judah in Jehoash's (of Israel) 2nd year (2 Kings 14:1-2)
1. In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah. 2. He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem

Year 147- Jeroboam II begins to rule Israel in Amaziah's 15th year (2 Kings 14:23)
In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.

Year 173 - Uzziah begins to rule Judah in Jeroboam's 27th year (2 Kings 15:1-2)
1. In the twenty and seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel began Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah to reign.
2. Sixteen years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned two and fifty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.

Year 210 - Zachariah begins to rule Israel in Uzziah's 38th year (2 Kings 15:8)
In the thirty and eighth year of Azariah king of Judah did Zachariah the son of Jeroboam reign over Israel in Samaria six months.

Year 211 - Shallum rules Israel for one month in Uzziah's 39th year (2 Kings 15:13), and is succeeded by Menahem who begins to rule Israel in Uzziah's 39th year (2 Kings 15:17)
*[[2Ki 15:13]] KJV* Shallum the son of Jabesh began to reign in the nine and thirtieth year of Uzziah king of Judah; and he reigned a full month in Samaria. Year 240 - Ahaz begins to rule Judah in Pekah's 17th year (2 Kings 16:1-2)
1. In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.
2. Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD his God, like David his father.

Year 244 - Hoshea kills Pekah in Jotham's 20th year (2 Kings 15:30). Note: it's important to observe Scripture nowhere indicates Hoshea began to rule over Israel immediately after killing Pekah.
30 And Hoshea the son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekah the son of Remaliah, and smote him, and slew him, and reigned in his stead, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzziah.

Year 251 - Hoshea begins to rule Israel in Ahaz's 12th year (2 Kings 17:1), 7 years after he killed Pekah
1. In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.

Year 254 - Hezekiah begins to rule Judah in Hoshea's 3rd year (2 Kings 18:1-2)
1. Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
2. Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.

Year 257 - Shalmaneser V laid siege against Samaria in Hezekiah's 4th year, which was Hoshea's 7th year (2 Kings 18:9)
9. And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.

Year 259 - Samaria fell to Assyria in Hezekiah's 6th year, which was Hoshea's 9th year (2 Kings 18:10) 10. And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

Year 268. Manesseh began to reign at the time of Hezekiah's sickness unto death.
*[[2Ch 33:1]] KJV* Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem:
Year 283 - this would be the last year of Hezekiah's 29 year reign and start of Manasseh's (SOLE) rule over Judah (2 Kings 18:2).
2. Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.


Manesseh was anointed to be Hezekiah's successor, when he became sick unto death in his 15th year [of 29 years, add 14 to his 1st year]

Part 4 of 4.

Year 322** - this would be the last year of Manasseh's 55 year reign and start of Amon's rule over Judah (2 Kings 21:1).
1. Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hephzibah.

Year 323** - this would be the last year of Amon's 2 year reign and possible start of Josiah's rule over Judah (2 Kings 21:19).
19. Amon was twenty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Meshullemeth, the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.
Note :Josiah began his sole rule in year 324 but was co-regent in year 323.

Year 335 - Jeremiah began his prophecy in Josiah's 13th year (Jeremiah 1:2 and 25:3)
2 To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
25:3 From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this day, that is the three and twentieth year, the word of the LORD hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened.

Year 353** - this would be the last year of Josiah's 31 year reign and start of Jehoahaz's 3 month rule over Judah (2 Kings 22:1).
1. Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath.

Note: as above, it's possible Jehoahaz began to rule in year 354rather than year 353. however in this case it doesn't really matter because the Jeremiah synchronism (year 335 to year 357) provides a bridge around Jehoahaz's reign.

Year 354- Jehoahaz's 3 month reign ends AND Jehoiakim starts to rule over Judah (2 Kings 23:30-31).
30. .....And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's stead.
31. Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
Note: the start of Jehoiakim's rule is found by working backwards from the synchronism of year 364.

Year 357 - Jeremiah's 23rd year of prophecy is synchronized to Jehoiakim's 4th year as Judah's king, which was also Nebuchadnezzar's 1st year as Babylon's king (Jeremiah 25:1-3)

Year 364 - this would be the last year of Jehoiakim's 11 year reign (2 Kings 23:36)
*[[2Ki 23:36]] KJV* Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.

...and the start of Jehoiachin's 3 month rule over Judah (2 Kings 24:8). This was also the 1st year of Jehoiachin's captivity which is also synchronized to Nebuchadnezzar's 8th year (2 Kings 24:12).

Year 365 - this would be the 1st year of Zedekiah's rule over Judah working backwards from the synchronism of year 374

Year 374 - synchronism of Zedekiah's 10th year to Nebuchadnezzar's 18th year (Jeremiah 32:1)
1. The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.

Year 375 - fall of Jerusalem synchronized to Zedekiah's 11th year (Jeremiah 39:2) and Nebuchadnezzar's 19th year (2 Kings 25:8, Jeremiah 52:12)
*[[Jer 39:2]] KJV* And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.

Part 5.

Solomon begins work on the temple, after David dies.

*[[1Ki 6:1]] KJV* And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the FOURTH year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.

*[[1Ki 9:10]] KJV* And it came to pass at the end of TWENTY years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the LORD, and the king's house,

AND Solomon reigned for 40 years.

*[[1Ki 11:42]] KJV* And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.

Solomon began Building in the 4th year.
Completed 20 years later.
Finished work in the 24th year.
Ended his reign in the 40th year.
Solomon reigned for 16 years after the work was done. We now have 374 plus 16 equals 390 years.

*[[1Ki 2:11]] KJV* And the days that David reigned over Israel were forty years: seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.

David did not begin his reign until Saul died.

*[[2Sa 5:3]] KJV* So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.
*[[2Sa 5:4]] KJV* David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

And Saul reigned for 40 years.
*[[Act 13:21]] KJV* And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.

So, we have 40 years for David, 40 years for Saul, and Solomon began the work on the temple, the year that David died, and that took 20 years. 40 + 40 + 20 + 390 = 490.

In order to preserve the Davidic dynasty, the kingdom of Judah would "anoint" a successor king, a vice president, if you will, to step in immediately to the throne, if something was to happen to the King (#1).

This is best demonstrated with king Hezekiah. He began reforms just as soon as he became king.

*[[2Ch 29:3]] KJV* He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them.
*[[2Ch 29:17]] KJV* Now they began on the FIRST day of the FIRST month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the LORD: so they sanctified the house of the LORD in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.

When you look at the chronology, Hoshea became king in year 251. And Hezekiah became king in the 3rd year of Hoshea, which means to add two to the year count, making 253. But you see 254 with the impression that this would be the 4th year of Hoshea. But it is the beginning of the next new year...254. Hoshea began his reign DURING the year 251. Three full years later would be the middle (sometime after the start) of year 254. So on new years, Nissan 1, 254, Hezekiah began his reign.
The same thing probably occurred in year 96 when little 7 year old Jehoash, son of Ahaziah, who was the grandson of Jehoshaphat, was set up on the throne by his "God parents", Jehoida (high priest under Solomon ) and his wife. And executed the Ba'al worshipping Queen Athaliah after 6 years of her reign, also the 7th year of Jehu.

This principle of "anointing" a successor probably began about the time of Abijam or Asa. King Asa died of foot problems in his 41st year as reign. His successor, Jehoshaphat, is listed as beginning his reign 41 years after, (the 42nd year? ) after Asa began his reign. Jehoshaphat's reign could have begun in late of year 60, without any harm to subsequent kings. Or perhaps because Asa's predecessor (Abijam)only reigned for about 3 years, that he (Asa) began his reign after the new year had started. This would then make jehoshaphat's installation on the new year a perfect time for this tradition to have started (New Year coronation). Judah preserved the throne of David by having a successor in the wings. This explains why Manesseh was installed when Hezekiah became sick unto death. He reigned an addition 15 years for a total of 29. This translates to Manesseh being anointed to serve, in Hezekiah's 15th year when Manesseh was only 12 years old. Meaning that Manesseh was born when Hezekiah was 28, rather than 25 yrs old plus 29 years reign minus 12 years for Manesseh equaling about age 44 when he gave birth to Manesseh.

There is an original framework that i worked from. But it didn't have the scriptures printed out. I worked thru everything, with bible inn hand and had to make some adjustments. The Hezekiah thing was my find. I'll try to get you the source if you like. They were trying to prove the "390 years" of Ezekiel 4. They came up with 388 and said that it was close and could probably be 390.
