Just wanted to post a quick recommendation for Subnautica, a game that's been out in Early Access on Steam for a couple of years, but is now fully released.
It's a survival game based on a water covered alien planet which your spaceship has crashed into. You wake up in a survival pod with a fabricator machine and very litte else. You spend most of your time underwater, and Subnautica manages to capture a remarkable blend of serenity and occasional deep fear. It works because you can choose when to venture out into the deeps, and when to potter around in the shallows gathering resources, building up a cool base or just exploring.
Personally I'd call it the best survival game ever made. The balancing is wonderful, the visuals are beautiful and you can just lose yourself in it for hours without even noticing. They've managed to capture a delicate blend of challenge where you set off to do a small job, which leads to many others, sending you off in different directions and building into a result that feels really satisfying.
It's not perfect of course, for me it could use a ton more content to really flesh out the world and provide more later game content, but I'd heartily recommend it to anyone. Easily an 85-90/100 game for me.
