Wait - Are you people saying that the concerns of the children were not real and just scripted fake concerns fostered by the media? Is that what the US govt and republican supporters believe?

Please don't act too surprised.

Enjoy the show, and take it all in. It will all make sense in the end.

Or, it wont.

It makes sense to me now, in fact. Perfect sense.

Assuming Zoii wasn't being socratic, perhaps she will get answers to her questions of which some of us know full well.

But, I won't be the one to answer them.

What does socratic mean?
There are several ways to educate someone. Two major methods are didactic and socratic.

Didactic is where you sit in a class and I teach by you by telling you stuff. I determine the objectives and I craft the content and I deliver it to you and you take it in. I hate learning that way unless its something simple like - This is how you change the chain on your bicycle steps 1-5.

Socratic - I have objectives but I don't really craft content as such. You discuss issues relevant to you and the teacher clarifies and questions your understanding which in turn requires you to investigate more deeply in order to arrive at a better understanding. You're allowed to go off on red-herrings and be completely wrong but with astute questions requiring you to investigate, you bring yourself back to solid evidence and appropriate conclusions. It's regarded as a stronger form of learning.

My professors would be proud of me.

But as for me - I was just asking a question for clarification.

@Ancient of Days @Zoii explained it well.

To add: Socrates taught Plato who taught Aristotle.

Plato had a work called Apology in which the entire text is an exploration into the Socratic method - used/spoken by Socrates Himself for the purposes of defending his failure to recognize the god's of the state...

It is so very relevant even today.

My day 1 class human bio at university. Its a two hour class. Day 1... a male, 62 years old, lying on the side of the road, his respiratory rate is 38. His face is blue.

Lecturer looked at me... right at me... n said whats going on with the guy.... i could have made absurd statements but the truth was I didnt truly have the facts about what drives someones respiratory rate and how colour is linked to someones respiratory function....

He looks around... anyone else?

Then come back in an hour and lets discuss what you know.... we scuttle off and hit the multitude of resources and come back more informed with facts not baseless opinion. Then we learn off each other and build a synopsis of possibilities based on fact and reasoning. Noone is ridiculed for being wrong but equally those wrong are open to better understanding.

This of course has nothing to do with the OP or this discussion. I just thought you might be interested

Theres a part B. I was feeling smugly clever... hes blue because hes deoxygenated.. Lecturer goes, "so?, why does that make him blue?" ...... dammit just when I think I know what Im talking about I have to go learn more to understand the issue. It appears having just basic facts doesnt mean you know what your talking about.

Is the president of the US saying that the outcry from students is just media scripted responses?
There was plenty of evidence for that on Youtube and Twitter.
But guess what: the octopus media police has been diligently scraping the gathered evidence, blocking and banning accounts too.
That's censorship and in violation of the 1st amendment.
Those kids got a lot of money out of the deal by the way.

Look to see if it is true.
Your being shocked is not an argument.

...no. A student who survived the shooting has claimed that during the townhall, cnn refused to let him ask his own question and tried to make him ask one that they provided instead.

I'm not sure how that is not clear. I have said this multiple times and linked to the first thread about it multiple times.

CNN has been shown to be more reliable on facts recently then Trump. So yes.

A Magic 8-Ball has been shown to be more reliable on facts than Trump. Chinese fortune cookies have been shown to be more reliable on facts than Trump. My horoscope has been shown to be more reliable on facts than Trump.
