Multiple news outlets are reporting that Rev. Billy Graham died this morning at his home. He was 99. If the reports are accurate, it's a loss to us and a gain for heaven. My prayers for this great man of God, his family, and ministry. Praise the Lord for welcoming a true son home. We'll see him soon. Amen.

One of, if not the only TV preacher I love...always have and always will for reasons mentioned....he stuck with his guns.

Always sad to say goodbye but I'm sure there is more of a happiness about his family knowing, beyond any doubt, where The Reverend Billy Graham is today.

May he be sheltered in a place of brightness, a place of verdure, a place of repose, whence all sickness, sorrow and sighing have fled away.. R.I.P.

Yes, I suspect we have lost one of the great martyrs of God that lived in our generation. That number of them is growing. May God bless us with someone to replace him.

God bless,
In Christ, ted

Billy Graham was one of the very few popular evangelists that I had any respect for. He might even be the only one. I remember an interview with him when he was in Ottawa in 1999 during his final crusade. He made two comments that have stuck with me:

"I preached Americanism too much….I began to realize we are not the Kingdom of God."

"When names are called for crowns in heaven, they will be the nameless hidden saints among us. They may not be called Christians. They just love God."

Billy must have been terribly disappointed in how Franklin turned out.

Well done thou good and faithful servant.

It was after listening to one of his sermons on TV around 1974 or so when I finally
began to pray........
I had already been reading the Bible and related literature for a couple of years before that but it was one of his messages that got me to actually begin to attempt to talk to G-d.

In 1995 Pastor Benny Hinn was on his way up to the podium
in Bogota, Colombia......... he stops..... he walks over to my third wife to be.......
and told her that she was going to travel all over the world working for Jesus.....
and that God would give her a foreign husband.

She thought at the time that the foreign husband would mean that her
then husband would repent.......
No.... he soon divorced her.....
Benny Hinn is a Christian psychic....... a truly gifted one...... in my opinion.....
and he is correct that the death of Billy Graham would signal the outpouring of the Holy Spirit
on all flesh.....

Probably the greatest evangelist of our time. He is with the LORD and has received a well done good and faithful servant and freedom from his flesh.

For sure.... and I think he would want us to hear this description of three levels of heaven by Christian near death experiencer Pastor Bob Jones:

Thank you for that, it was amazing. We wonder what heaven is like. There are testimonies like this of people who have had either visions or visitations to heaven. I think of the story, Heaven is for Real, of the little boy's experience visiting heaven and Jesus when he was in a coma.
But the light as this man described it is interesting, that everything is light with colors, not from the sun as we see it.

I am so glad that you take little Colton Burpo's testimony seriously......
I do too.... and I believe that his book and movie have astonishing potential to prepare millions of people for salvation..........

I am sure that reading Heaven is for Real..... or watching the movie.... and sharing it with somebody would make Dr. Billy Graham very happy in heaven....... because he is no longer subject to time.......
and will know when you take that step in his honor........

He's not a martyr.

It can be argued that he martyred his own flesh in the sense that he
could easily have accepted multi million dollar offers........ from many directions.......
but he went all out to preach a truly simple and humble message............

A Catholic priest has done a wonderful tribute article to him:

I don’t remember his exact words but it was something like, “My friends, I come here feeling a little bit like Paul preaching in Athens. He was surrounded by the greatest minds and philosophers of his day, and he stood up and presented the simple, life changing gospel of Jesus Christ. That’s what I feel like. Here you are as the greatest writers and thinkers of our age, and I’m just a poor country preacher. Nevertheless, it is my prayer that you will join me in witnessing to the love of Jesus Christ to this needy world.”

That was it basically, and who but the hardest of hearts could resist it?

During all his years Billy Graham maintained complete integrity in his relationships, his finances and his witness. He put safeguards in place financially so that he received a simple salary from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. That’s it. When he travelled he was never in a room with a woman alone. Although he was friends with politicians he kept to what he did–praying with people and preaching the gospel.

Therefore, apart from being the most famous evangelist of our age, he was also a model of Christian ministry. As such he is a model for all priests, pastors, popes and bishops.

I went on to become first an Anglican minister, and then a Catholic priest, but in that journey I have never turned my back on my good Evangelical upbringing. I have not denied all the good things from that Christian heritage–I have just added to them, and if I take any label at all it is that of an “Evangelical Catholic.”

Billy Graham was part of that foundation and he was a true Man of God

I believe that the boy has recanted and said that he made it all up.

That was a wonderful tribute indeed. Billy Graham was a man of integrity --- a rare quality even among people of his profession.

You are mistaken. Alex Malarkey recanted, admitted his story was a lie in "The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven".
Colton Burpo is who I am talking about, the boy from a different book, "Heaven is For Real".

You're right, Halbhh. Last night, a Messianic/Spirit led minister named Curt Landry shared a message online about what Billy Graham's going home to heaven means for us. It means the mantle of ministry that he carried now goes to many whom God has raised and is raising up to continue the work of preaching the Gospel to this dying world that needs to know the savior who paid His life for all of us. Rabbi Landry also commented that Billy was like salt at his passing, cleansing portals between heaven and earth. I admit I don't fully understand that, but I think the gist is that Billy, at his passing, opened a door for more of the power of God on earth, so that noone can deny that God is our Father and that, without a doubt, Jesus is the Savior whom God did send to save us. I'm thankful that Billy's trip home is both his gain and ours.
