Lip service.

and do you have any idea just how unconstitutional your idea is?

American's have been overweight and unconcerned for decades.
I think praying is a good idea, not a bad one. Do you remember what the great commandment is (Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul: Matt 22:34-40)? How can you obey it without praying?

that is as meaningless as saying he promoted being left handed.
Now you tell a falsehood. Barack promoted homosexuality. He is the one who threatened to withhold government funds from schools that wouldn't allow boys, who wanted to be girls, to shower with girls at school.

...how is rote praying obeying that command? I would think that was the opposite of obeying Him. :sorry:

Out nation is off course. Did you ever read about Sodom and Gomorrah? Don't see how school prayer could hurt anything.

At this point we're handing out buckets in the flooding bathroom instead of turning off the faucets.

A properly constructed prayer, such as the Lord's Prayer, can be a daily reminder of what we are striving for. We're supposed to be in constant prayer (1 Thess 5:17), so why are you complaining?

Exactly! We disobey the Lord and experience the dire consequences. Instead of going back to the Lord, we hand out the buckets.

Maybe it’s time to allow prayer in American schools.
Prayer *is* allowed, everywhere.

What is not allowed is the outward demonstration that
one is praying, but that's not a problem, since even Jesus
discouraged that kind of thing.

And God is omnipresent. No one can disallow Him from
being in a particular place.

I don't think teachers are allowed to pray out loud at the beginning of the school day. I've heard prayer groups are banned from schools. I've heard of coaches being told they can't pray with their teams before a contest.

Fortunately, prayer doesn't have to be out loud. God can
read minds. :)

Jesus instructed that when we pray, we are to do so in
secret. It would seem that the current rules are in
support of what Jesus said about the issue.

Prayer doesn't have to be out loud, but when the government bans public prayer, then the government has thrown the Lord out.

No, because nobody moves God around like He's a piece of furniture.
God is everywhere, and Jesus said to pray in secret.

Since when do Christians let what the peanut-gallery
says trump what their own bible says?

The government can't stop me from praying, but a government that forbids public prayer is a government that isn't trying to carry out the Lord's will.

See, the joke's on them, though:

Jesus said (and I repeat, yet again) that when we pray, we are to do so in secret. We're not supposed to publicly demonstrate that we're praying. So when the government says not to publicly demonstrate that you're praying, they're telling us to do -- whether they're trying to or not -- exactly what Jesus said to do.

It's actually rather amusing. The government is actually enforcing Jesus's own command on that front. :)

But the Lord will allow a country to experience the consequences of their bad decisions. We don't want that happening to our country. For that matter, it's our responsibility to set good examples for others, and giving our blessing to our country's misdeeds isn't going to accomplish that.

Obeying Jesus's command to pray in secret is not tantamount
to blessing misdeeds.

Consequences and bad decisions will be around regardless. No
one is perfect. It's called life.

You see nothing wrong with allowing boys to shower with girls at school?
uhmmm...could you point to where in my post I said that? Because I thought my post said:
...I don't think I see how that is even kind of "promoting homosexuality"?
and since instead of explaining why you think he was "promoting homosexuality" you instead said the above, which doesn't actually explain...well anything really.
I see little hope for you.
Hey! You sound almost exactly like my mom and dad did all those years ago when I said I wanted to become a Christian! :D
