Every night, there are parasites who torture me, destroy my brain little by little, and deprive me of sleep.

I have been praying to God to do something about it, but he does nothing and remains silent.

Other people have been praying to God to do something about it, but he does nothing and remains silent.

When I kindly ask God to make sure the parasites quit destroying my brain, he does nothing and remains silent.

When I kindly ask God to let me sleep and stop the sleep deprivation caused by the parasites so that I can go to church tomorrow, he does nothing and remains silent.

When I kindly ask God to stop the torture, he does nothing and remains silent.

God is indeed doing nothing, and he is remaining silent. I can’t tolerate this. I want God to do and say something. But he does nothing and says nothing. It feels like God doesn’t exist. If this is how God treats others, it’s no wonder so many people are atheists.

Please pray and ask God to do something about the parasites who are torturing me, depriving me of sleep, and destroying my brain. Please pray and ask God to actually say something to me. His utter silence is tormenting me.

What parasites are you referring to?

What are you doing to stop the attacks? Are you studying the Word, crucifying the flesh, being obedient to Christ, being set free by truth? That's the only way you will overcome this.

There is so much hatred towards God in all of your posts. Why do you expect Him to move when you aren't being faithful to Him?

First, I wish to say thank you for everyone who has prayed for me.

There is something I must write regarding these tormenting parasites.

I've been in denial for why these things have been happening to me. The reason for why has now registered with me. My suffering is a consequence of my sins. For one, I have a terrible addiction to smokeless tobacco which will eventually kill me if I don't quit. What I can do to get rid of these spiritual parasites is kick my nicotine habit, something that it hard to do but doable. Also, I drank quite a bit of alcohol last night, particularly the hard stuff like whiskey. There is debate within the Christian community if drinking constitutes a sin, but I think it does, especially if done in excess. Had I not consumed any alcohol and used tobacco last night, I would have been safe and not tormented.

The reason why God seems silent must be because he is angry with my sins. I'll try hard to conquer my misconduct and return to the straight and narrow path. Doing so will get rid of my torment, and I'll be safe.

Praying brother. From Charles Spurgeon:

Shew me wherefore thou contendest with me.
—Job 10:2

Perhaps, O tried soul, the Lord is doing this to develop thy graces. There are some of thy graces which would never be discovered if it were not for thy trials. Dost thou not know that thy faith never looks so grand in summer weather as it does in winter? Love is too often like a glow-worm, showing but little light except it be in the midst of surrounding darkness.

Hope itself is like a star-not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity. Afflictions are often the black foils in which God doth set the jewels of His children's graces, to make them shine the better. It was but a little while ago that on thy knees thou wast saying, "Lord, I fear I have no faith: let me know that I have faith." Was not this really, though perhaps unconsciously, praying for trials?-for how canst thou know that thou hast faith until thy faith is exercised?

Depend upon it, God often sends us trials that our graces may be discovered, and that we may be certified of their existence. Besides, it is not merely discovery, real growth in grace is the result of sanctified trials. God often takes away our comforts and our privileges in order to make us better Christians.

He trains His soldiers, not in tents of ease and luxury, but by turning them out and using them to forced marches and hard service. He makes them ford through streams, and swim through rivers, and climb mountains, and walk many a long mile with heavy knapsacks of sorrow on their backs. Well, Christian, may not this account for the troubles through which thou art passing? Is not the Lord bringing out your graces, and making them grow? Is not this the reason why He is contending with you?

"Trials make the promise sweet;
Trials give new life to prayer;
Trials bring me to His feet,
Lay me low, and keep me there."

Lord, I wonder if atheists impersonate Christians on this site, writing like they believe in You, but then saying You are doing nothing, or not listening, or torturing them, just to get other people to question Your existence. Lord, I pray that tactics like that, if they exist on this site, will backfire. Amen.
P.S. There is a classic illustration of an atheistic professor standing before his class, challenging God to strike him dead immediately if He exists. Of course nothing happens and so the atheist feels justified in his atheism. But then there is 2 Peter 3:9. Jesus met the same type of challenge when the religious leaders taunted Him saying "If you are the Christ, then come down from the cross and save yourself." He chose to stay on the cross, demonstrated His love for them and died for their sins anyway.

Hello friend...

...have you considered, that God is ready and willing to embrace you in "as is" condition, if you would be willing to "drop the rope" of judgement... against yourself and others?

NONE of us can deem ourselves worthy... any more than we can grab our own bootstraps and pull ourselves out of the quicksand.

Our judgement and even self hatred, is almost always rooted in pride, egoism and arrogance. Our Creator knows the path we have traveled, but will allow us to exert our free will and keep ourselves from the fact of His Love.

When we have dug a deep home for ourselves... and can no longer see past the edge (because we have been really busy digging!), the first thing we have to accept, is we need to stop digging. But digging has become a habit... a tough bad habit. We have to ask for help from God, not just make deals.

The most powerful thing we can do, when we have been badly beaten up with remorse and self hatred, is to just help others "for fun and for free".

God expects us to be broken human beings... because that's what we are. Just reach for Him in prayer, ask for his help... and let go of your demands that He help you, and instead go help somebody else. Be kind to others for fun and for free.

Ask for His help, and surrender what little bits you can, and focus on helping others for fun and for free.

Explore if you are alcoholic... (when you drink, does it make you want to drink more?) Go to an A.A. group that practices "old school" AA. AA has a powerful toolbox for unwinding a life lived badly and expunging the things that block you from God's Grace.

Prayers and best wishes to you, dear friend.
