Not true. But among other things he was charged with investigating "any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump". Seems like this is right in line, given that members of the Trump campaign were identified as unwitting accomplices.

I get it. This announcement has caught people off guard. But RNC talking points from weeks ago seem really stale given the information that's come to light in the past few days.

I thought one of the talking points was that collusion wasn't a crime. Why would anyone expect an indictment for it?

If it were 13 Mexicans committing vote fraud, i'm sure Trump would call a press covfefe...I mean conference immediately to condemn the outrageous act, and cite it as proof that 5 million illegals voted for Hillary in the election.

But you'd have to apply C-R-I-T-I-C-A-L-T-H-I-N-K-I-N-G to realize that.

Gosh, I wonder why a special counsel investigating a man who has the power to instantly pardon any of his henchmen for any or no reason might not want to reveal the evidence he has on said henchmen until he can wrap up the whole case and discover whether the main target can be removed from power..

Collusion becomes a crime when it amounts to conspiracy to commit crimes for shared gain. You then tie the person of interest to the crime in a quid pro quo sort of way and the next indictment is of them.

The fact that someone is being charged with criminal activity would not be taken as a good sign, it is at best neutral (it came up incidentally in the investigation and nothing else was found) at worst, they have to charge your co-conspirators with crimes to make your collusion a crime.

I feel sure that Mueller's investigation is nowhere near completion, and I also feel sure there is a reason that Mueller appropriated so many tax experts in government to help him with his case.

In the end, I feel sure that Trump's downfall will come from his relationships with Russian felon Felix Sater, Wilbur Ross and the money-laundering Bank of Cyprus, Russian loans funneled through Deutsch Bank, sketchy real estate deals in Panama--and even in Florida. While I fear that Trump's financial entangelements may be a black hole from which investigators will never recover, I know they are a lot more astute than I am, and more astute than the investigative reporters who've been putting all the puzzle pieces together they've been able to assemble.
