I was in my bedroom getting ready for my Tuesday morning college German class. I had the tv on one of the morning shows, which are based in New York. I remember when they first announced what was happening.
It was weird that day, that’s all I can say. Some classes were cancelled. I think a lot of us just didn’t know what to think.

I think all in all these two things stand out to me the most: The amazing thing is that these two have been proven to be authentic.

I was in high school walking to a class. I think it was second period math. A friend passed me and said, "did you hear there was a terrorist attack at the World Trade Center? Plane flew into it." I didn't know what the World Trade Center was at the time, but will never forget it now.

I'd got home from university and for some reason I switched on the radio, which I don't normally do, to hear that a plane had flown into the World Trade Centre. Initially I thought that they were talking about a light aircraft, but then it emerged that it was something larger. At some point someone let me know that it was on TV (interrupting normal programming), and I saw the second plane hit.

I was a toddler then too young for vivid memories to be imprinted. We were living in Germany at the time while my parents were stationed at Ramstein, and though we didn't reside on the base, we were moved there as a security precaution. My older brother remembers that, and how he was kept out of school, and we were given an escort to the hospital two days later when I needed to have my G-tube (I had stomach issues due to chickenpox-induced sepsis) checked.

One of my earliest vivid memories is from 2002 when we were in London. I was being carried and so this cutout from the newspaper of the American flag that was laminated and hanging on the door was right at my eye level. I was excited to see it because I'd been learning about flags, and recognized that it was America's and not Britain's. I was exclaiming "that's ours!" I remember that the store owner was Muslim, because of how he was dressed prompting questions and my parents later explaining. Of course at the time I had no concept of the religion, or any depth of understanding about the significance. I brought up that memory years later and my mom said that British newspapers had printed the American flag the day after 9/11 and asked their readers to cut it out and hang it up to show their solidarity with us. The shopkeeper had gotten his laminated so it would last.

Greater He that's in us than he that's in the world.

Back on topic. I was playing hooky from school and turned on the bedroom's TV to it on the news. I think I was too young to really formulate any rational thoughts about it.

I was at work at a government employment readiness program in Upstate NY setting up for the day. My boss and i heard it on the radio and we set up the TV for the class to watch all morning. I didn't watch as i had to man the phones and drop-ins.
i wasn't affected at the time because i wasn't watching and didn't know anyone in NYC but when my uncle died four days later i was messed up for days (because i had a personal devastating loss) and read the NY Times feature every day for a good while...

I was 1 when it got hit, but I still remember it.
Sitting on the bed, my family crying and my dad screaming, my cousin who was a Marine, swearing like a sailor.
I was too young to understand exactly what was going on, but looking back I remember, and understand.
I would have said the same thing, that I would now, we need to kill and snuff out any and all people who would perpetrate such a thing.

1 year old me was savage yo.

And what do you remember thinking that day?
I was at work. I worked for a business which had 33 locations spread around the Bay Area in California. We had a computer connected to every other computer in the other locations, so we started getting messages from the other stores that we were being attacked by terrorists.

I remember being shocked.

It was one of TWO days where "I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing"

First was in 5th grade - i was home sick from school, watching TV on the old black and white set...

I flipped a channel -- and heard

"...Kennedy in the head, and Conally in the chest..."

and I KNEW it was tragedy, I knew Pres Kennedy and Governor Conally were in a parade in Dallas -- I tried to SHUT IT OUT, i turned off the TV

then my Dad burst thru the door, he had come home at lunch to check on me cuz I was sick

"Turn that back on, I just heard on the radio that the President has been shot"

but 9-11, gosh - I didn't like it that Bush was shook up, he sounded scared

the day after, Senator Hutchinson was on the radio, saying
"we are going to find the people who did this and wipe them off the face of the earth"
that is what I wished Bush had said the day before

well, did that happen? we got Osama Bin Laden, but terrorists still run rampant

nearly 70 years since Israel became a nation again
and are they still "trodden down by the Gentiles"?

Dome of the Rock stands where the Temple was, I guess so

in 63 I went back to school the day after
Annette had written a poem about the assasination
and read it to the class
her Dad owned a music store, she played electric guitar and sang in front of people in 5th grade
her poem blew me away

These two events are seared into my brain like no others
9-11, and 23 Nov 1963

I was in Edgewater, NJ. Across and down the river from Manhattan. What I heard on the radio made it sound like a small private aircraft had accidentally struck one of the towers. Based on what I saw out the window, however, it was obviously a much larger plane. Moments later, the second tower was struck and it became clear that it wasn't an accident.

My brother was in the Pentagon at the time. Fortunately, he was safe in another part of the building.
