Following up on my last post on my religious search struggles, when will I know when I have found the correct religion for me? Will I just know in my heart? Will I have some kind of epiphany? Because, in the moment, I'm feeling really drawn to Christianity... but I feel like I ought to wait. Perhaps for a few months before I make a decision.

I'm not sure. Your thoughts?

Christianity is more about a Person, Jesus Christ, and the way of life of His disciples. If you're seeking Christ, then He's already begun speaking to you. In time, you'll find Him because He's already found you :). Read the gospel of John, if you can. God bless :).

Looking for certainty in faith is, I'd argue, something that's not going to happen.

I'm not a Christian because I know it's true. I have faith in Jesus Christ and in the historic confession of the Christian Church; a deep and abiding faith, a conviction, and a profound confidence--but not a certainty or some sort of empirical knowledge.

If you are interested in pursuing Christianity, if only as a seeker, I would recommend both regularly visiting a church and taking some form of basic catechesis; most traditional, mainstream churches welcome visitors and provide catechesis in some form for people either wanting to learn more or planning on converting (there's no obligation of receiving Baptism and converting in most mainstream catechesis programs). But the best thing I can think of is simply exposing yourself to the Christian religion in a Christian setting.

I won't tell you precisely what church to visit, though as a Lutheran I obviously have my own bias here. But I would suggest a mainstream, traditional church so that you will receive exposure to the historic teaching and practices of the Christian religion.

There is only one way to truly have life in religion (being both enlightened and free), and that requires that we always know what God expects of us so that we do not become a person enslaved to the desires that put us at odds with God's plan. The result of sinners enslaved is chaos, whereas the result of those overcoming sin is love.

A study of sin and love reveals that they are opposed to each other - love is perfect morality, whereas sin is immorality (serving self at the expense of others). All religions arise as an original leader has encountered some means of addressing that issue, and seeing as sin is rooted in fear, the common human fear of death is central in religion too.

As you see that all religions have some common ground, they are also bound to have chaos. This is because every person who has grown beyond childhood is determined to trust their own knowledge by default if there is ever any disagreement. This is why it is vital that there is an arbiter, and when we discuss religious matters, we include a spiritual arbiter that is common in the Abrahamic religions - named repectively "HaShem", "Jehovah", and "Allah". The ones who are not spiritual trust in man-made systems of arbitration, usually of a pyramid shape, sometimes with a council or a single elected head (consider Mark 10:42-45).

When we come to recognise that He reigns from the heavens and we recognise that His Word speaks in a divine way with power to convict our heart, then we acknowledge Him as the universal arbiter regardless of our faith construct. In this way we find that God does not show favouritism (Amos 7:7-9).

We can never escape the issue of Jesus Christ because He is the one who was anointed for Messianic duty, and did no wrong deserving of death yet was cut off before His Messianic duty was completed. Through this sacrifice, He has achieved the right to continue His office without end (Hebrews 7:23-25).

I remember you mentioned some Judaic roots, so you will know that the history of the people was perpetually incapable of perfection, therefore the corruption of the faith by way of human reasoning (Proverbs 3:5-6) became so intense among them over time that they eventually lost favour with God so severely that the Romans overtook them.

It is not as though Jesus has rejected them, but their long held culture of belief against Jesus has prevented them from trusting that He does serve as High Priest in the heavens to save them - and this is also aggravated by the fact that Christendom is largely a demonic exercise where the Christians themselves have long believed false doctrines that cause them to believe in opposition to Him and therefore when Jewish people look at Christians they do not see the image of Christ let alone any resemblance of Judaism (Christianity rightly implemented is the ultimate implementation of Judaism).

When a person is born into a culture that is so far away from Christian knowledge, yet they are obedient to The Holy Spirit, it can be a large distance to travel before they are able to recognise that it is Him whom they follow (John 10:16). Yet, given the right combination of contrition and messengers, they can eventually come to that knowledge.

In this way we see that there is only two types of religion in the world: the children of light and the children of darkness. One is described by John 3:20, the other John 3:21. However, despite that Jews and Muslims fight for the same God and the same purpose (to establish God's kingdom in earth), the fact is that no other can ever be more righteous than Jesus Christ (the cost is blood to the death - and that must also come by being opposed to Him while being holy according to Torah ;)). In this way we see that there is no other name in heaven and earth by which man must be saved, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Colossians 1:16).

Therefore thus says Adonai Elohim:
‘Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone,
a tested stone,
a costly cornerstone, a firm foundation—
whoever trusts will not flee in haste.
17 But I will make justice the measuring line
and righteousness the plumb line.
Hail will sweep away the refuge of lies,
and water will overflow the hiding place.
Isaiah 28:16-17

It can be laborious (and damaging - Romans 12:1) to gain the right perspective of Christianity, so I have put together this little booklet just to help with that: www.adonai-reigns.life/the-gospel .

when will I know when I have found the correct religion for me?
What are you looking for?
A belief that makes you feel good or are you searching for the Truth?

If you want to feel good look up buddhism there are no nasty moral demands there just do 'good' or more 'good' than bad, be nice to people etc.

Christianity on the other hand offers you the blunt brutal truth.
There is a God, who demands perfection in your behaviour, who will punish with hell those who fail.
Frighten or interested?

Christianity has a unique feature.
It is the only belief where God acts to save the worshipper. Got that. God acts to save you from the consquences of your hatred of him.

Yes Hatred a strong word, but there are two positions in the world. Love of God, as in being a Christian or hatred of God as in not being a Christian.

It sounds like you're approaching the matter of religion as you would choosing a new pair of socks or a meal from a menu. Your personal preference seems to be your paramount concern. It shouldn't be. Truth - objective truth - has no regard whatever for your particular preferences. No matter what you might prefer, fire burns, gravity pulls us downward, water is wet, and 2+2=4.

The Christian religion claims to reveal the truth about the nature of God, His will, and our relationship to Him. If it is correct in its claims, then you cannot afford to ignore those claims in favour of other contradictory claims of another religion that you feel better suit you. If Christianity is correct, choosing to ignore its revelation of truth will have devastating and eternal consequences for you.

As has already been pointed out to you in this thread, Christianity does not offer you merely a set of truth propositions to accept and/or a collection of rituals to perform, but fellowship with God through Jesus Christ. The Good News of Christianity is that God made you to know Him personally and to enjoy Him forever. Jesus said,

John 10:10
10 ... I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

and,

John 6:37
37 ...the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.

and,

Revelation 3:20
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Choose today whom you will serve.

Yes, as many have stated here, we NEED the Lord Jesus in our heart to have any part in God-His Father (one should read such a John 1; John 3; John 14; and take note also of 1 Jn. 5:10-12). God speaks through His Word, and He speaks much of the new life being in possessing and being devoted to the Savior, His "beloved Son" --the Lord Jesus Christ. Religion and religious ideas and reasoning will not suffice.

I believe faith should not be just a feeling but a rational choice !!

There is truth in most religions however it is up to the individual to gain legitimate understanding. Choosing a religion was not a choice to me, I gained the understanding first then picked the label closest to it, but labels are more of a fun thing and don't really matter.

There is truth, you don't have to only believe, it is a trap to believe your beliefs are true, once you do that you lock yourself away from the actual truth. You have to have faith that you are wrong until you know you are undoubtedly right, through experience, not mere belief.

I swear in the name of Jesus Christ almost everything I say is aligned with the divine truth, the same truth he spoke of, but for clarification, not as pure.

" 'See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ' (Colossians 2:8)."
