I am an old Christian, with an old love, for God, for Jesus, for The Word of God...I am a life-long student of that Word.
I am a writer, poet, fly fisherman (NOT your typical 'snobbish' fly fisherman), photographer, historian; and my wife and I spend most weekends seeking out historic industrial remains, iron furnaces, forges, old bridges, brickworks, and so forth. In fact, allow me to sing you a song (metaphorically) and you can call me what you find in the title of that poem. It pretty much reveals my person and my heart.
JUST CALL ME BROTHER...
Don't call me Father, don't call me Reverend,
Don't call me Doctor So and so.
Give me no license, no pompous titles,
To ordinations I say NO!
Chorus:
Just call me Brother,
Forget about my name,
Don't want the money,
Won't play that silly game.
Don't call be Parson, don't call me Teacher,
Don't call me Mister Preacher Man.
Don't call me Pastor, don't call me Prophet,
Just know in Jesus I do stand.
Chorus:
Just call me Brother,
Don't worry about my name.
I know my Jesus,
And I know why He came...
Don't call me Master, don't call me Rabbi.
Don't call me Senior Anything.
Don't call me Vicar, Deacon or Elder,
Archbishop, Cardinal or King.
Chorus:
Just call me Brother,
Don't think about my name,
We know our Jesus, And Jesus knows our name.
Don't call me Father, Just call me Brother,
Just call me Brother...
And ps..."neither let me give flattering titles unto man. For I know not to give
flattering titles; in so doing, my maker would soon take me away" Job 32:21-22.
