Welcome..and Amen to your opening post. I don't believe scientific & religious inquiry are (or should be) mutually exclusive.. I think both are important in understanding/seeking God.

Hello Scientist, I am another "scientist" (I have a science degree and a rampant data analysis habit) and it is great to meet you. I am a recovering ex-Christian who was turned away from the church because of the rise of feminists within the church. I consider myself a "rationalist" now, but could *easily* see myself Believing within the confines of a correctly structured social, spiritual, and relational foundation.
