These following versus I believe historically match pagan Rome and its state based religion to the minute details. What do you say?

5“Woe to the Assyrian, the rod of my anger,

in whose hand is the club of my wrath!

STOP! Historic facts.........

6 I send him against a godless nation,

I dispatch him against a people who anger

me, to seize loot and snatch plunder,

and to trample them down like mud in the

streets.

STOP! Historic facts..........

7But this is not what he intends, this is not

what he has in mind; his purpose is to

destroy, to put an end to many nations.

STOP! Historic facts point to Rome after the fact, from the writing above......

8‘Are not my commanders all kings?’ he

says.

STOP! Historic facts..... Ceasars

9‘Has not Kalno fared like Carchemish?

Is not Hamath like Arpad, and Samaria like

Damascus?

Stop! Historic facts.....little Rome in every conquered nation.....

10 As my hand seized the kingdoms of

the idols, kingdoms whose images

excelled those of Jerusalem and Samaria

STOP! Historic facts......pagan Rome gave life to the idols of nations

11shall I not deal with Jerusalem and her

images as I dealt with Samaria and her

idols?’ ”

STOP! Historic facts.... Jerusalem a Roman province

12When the Lord has finished all his work

against Mount Zion and Jerusalem, he will

say, “I will punish the king of Assyria for

the willful pride of his heart and the

haughty look in his eyes.

STOP! Historic facts.......

13 For he says:

“ ‘By the strength of my hand I have done

this, and by my wisdom, because I have

understanding. I removed the boundaries

of nations, I plundered their treasures;

like a mighty one I subdued their kings.

STOP! Historic facts.....only Pagan Rome can consistently lay claim to the above

14As one reaches into a nest, so my hand

reached for the wealth of the nations;

as people gather abandoned eggs,

so I gathered all the countries; not one

flapped a wing, or opened its mouth to

chirp.’ ”

STOP! Historical facts.....God used the Assyrian as the rod of his anger.......Pagan Rome after the facts

15Does the ax raise itself above the

person who swings it, or the saw boast

against the one who uses it?

As if a rod were to wield the person who

lifts it up, or a club brandish the one who

is not wood!

STOP! Historic facts.......God uses pagan Rome as his rod, but declares it also his enemy at the end

16Therefore, the Lord, the Lord Almighty,

will send a wasting disease upon his

sturdy warriors; under his pomp a fire will

be kindled like a blazing flame.

STOP! FUTURE Prophesy.....the skyfall scenario of burning mystery Babylon and everything that represents Rome. God uses the Assyrian/Rome as the club of his wrath, then destroys the club.

17The Light of Israel will become a fire,

their Holy One a flame; in a single day it

will burn and consume his thorns and his

briers.

STOP! FUTURE Prophesy........the Church will in a day burn pagan Rome's false state based religious system.

18The splendor of his forests and fertile

fields it will completely destroy,

as when a sick person wastes away.

STOP! FUTURE Prophesy.....the forests and fields represent humanity who will abandon Rome and its religious Reich/reign.

19And the remaining trees of his forests

will be so few that a child could write

them down.

STOP! FUTURE Prophesy......the people who remain loyal to Rome and its religious system will be almost none existent.

Rome Rome Rome.... it wasn't built in one day, but it surely will be destroyed by God in one day.

Is that a future prophecy or an observation regarding the original pagans of Rome?

I see you claim to be Eastern Orthodox? I'm certainly not here to question your Orthodoxy, but to call Rome "pagan" doesn't seem very Orthodox considering it's one of the 5 Holy Sees, schism or not. Rome hasn't been pagan since around the same time of the other 4 Holy Sees.

You mind expanding on this a bit?

Who is historically the Assyrian, who has subdued the nations and made his Ceasars kings and who is declared the rod of God's anger?

Esaias 10:9 then shall he say, Have I not taken the country above Babylon and Chalanes, where the tower was built? and have I not taken Arabia, and Damascus, and Samaria?

"The LXX. version, which instead of naming Carchemish, gives "Calane, where the tower was built," seems to imply a tradition identifying that city with the Tower of Babel of Genesis 11:4."

Obviously it is not Rome, since Rome is no longer Pagan; neither is it Assyria, because Nineveh repented and the Assyrians are among the most persecuted Christians in the Middle East.

I think rather Assyria is used in the same sense as Babylon, as a metaphor for evil worldliness. In the Psalm Super Flumina, (Psalms 139 / 138 LXX) the controversial and oft-omitted verse “blessed is he who will dash thy little ones against the rocks” is not a blessing on someone going into Babylon and killing the children, which never happened, nor killing children in general, which is abhorrent to God. Rather, the offspring of Babylon is sin and death, and the defeat of sinfulness and death by our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ and those who follow Him is what is being referred to.
