We get an early morning murmuration of blackbirds here in Tucson. Yesterday a birder counted 12,700 birds in 10 minutes. I've inadvertently witnessed it while driving north on the freeway. It's like a mile long river of birds. Amazing.

That's a beautiful photograph, Colin. I'm going to steal it from you. I can paint that in two colors with just a hint of a third.

I think I've already shared my only photograph of the only (European) robin I've ever seen. It was taken at Lourdes. It's horribly blurry, but it was my first, so I will always have fond memories of it. I guess robins inspire that in us. N'est pas?

Yes the robin is a very special creature . It was my mum's favourite , hence I have this little plaque on my living-room wall......
