Some people can be that way either because all they do is take but never give back, or because their personality rubs up against you a lot and it takes a lot of energy just to tolerate them haha. But yeah, some people are fountains and some are drains.

Also, I really appreciate that you are still willing to go to lunch with her, but I'm just curious about why you do if it takes so much out of you?

I do it because she is a sweet lady who needs friends (just like all of us do). In spite of how draining I find our visits, she is my sister in Christ and she isn't a sponge or anything like that. I think what I find draining is that she talks nonstop and can be rather nosy, though I know for a fact she means no harm plus I have known her for years. So I choose to make the effort even though the effort is draining.

I don’t currently have someone in my life like that. (There are a number of people who just drain me regardless of who they are because im an introvert.) If it was simply a person who annoyed me I just avoided them or did my own thing. (Had a coworker a long time ago who iritated me so I changed my schedule to be the days or hours she would not be there.) But as an introvert if I’m not really comfortable with someone I don’t know well who drains me but I’ve nothing against them. Then just gotta deal with it and then hide after. It’s not weird to feel drained sometimes from people as an introvert (and perhaps as an extrovert) I think. Don’t feel bad.
I guess how I feel better is if there was someone else present to take the nosy attention away from me to some other topic. So maybe try to focus the conversation on something other than yourself if she’s nosy.

That makes a lot of sense And it is really sweet that you would love and serve her in that way.

Where am i going to live? Thats what is on my mind. Recently divorced. Present house nearly completed sale. Ex going to a new house. Me? Nothing lined up. 3 weeks before we are out of here!

Stressful

Sent off my Ancestry DNA kit last week. Can't wait to get the completed results, but I have to wait at least 6 weeks for that. I had only tested on my maternal side before, but this will test both sides, so I'm excited to see what it says.

I got mine back in a week and a half. As did my gramps and aunt. 6 weeks is standard, but often quicker.

What did your results say, if you don't mind sharing? Was it what you expected as far as you know of your family?

I was expecting a few things, but not expecting some results I got.

1) I expected to have some Native American, as my grandma on my mom's side told everyone we were all native, but she was wrong. There was 0%.

2) I didn't know if my last name was Irish or Scottish, but the test settled it for me. I did expect more Irish than I got though.

3) Found out I was as much Scandinavian as I was Irish, but had no idea. It's funny, I always had a fascination with the Vikings, so it was really cool for me to discover that my genes came from a time when the Vikings invaded Ireland and co-mingled with the population there.

4) I also didn't know I had English blood either, because of my grandma saying she was Native American. She's actually English and her maiden name was Dare, which was a prominent English family.

5) Ancestry shows you others who have taken the test that you're also closely related to, from close relationships to 4th and 5th cousins. I found out that my great grandfather had a secret second family that only one or two other people knew. I was part of the family he left (abandoned his son, my grandfather) and had kids with another woman (my 2nd cousin I found on Ancestry, my mom's first cousin). So, this finally came to light within the family

From there, I discovered that my last name should be Hanna, not the name I have. The name I have now actually died out when my great-great grandmother married. But when she divorced her husband, she went back to her maiden name and her son (my great-grandfather) followed suit. This is him when he was a kid (the youngest on the right)

Yeah, was shocked to discover I have some North African/Southwest Asian in me. Guess I'm related to the part of Africa that enslaved Europeans, lol.

I've been thinking of doing it too @leothelioness and @Saucy It's been on my mind the last couple of days. I'm really curious. I'll let yas know the results if I end up taking it.

@Saucy wow thats really neat to find out about that. Plus if you had irish in you then you would have Scandinavian blood in you as well because of the viking invaded Ireland. And of course Scotland and the north coast of England. But to actually see it. Its a shame that you can't see in detail of great britain ?

Even though my surname is Irish, we know that it was founded from the vikings.

Yay! It's so fun finding out your ancestry DNA results. I've done the 23 and Me kit, but I want to do the Ancestry one. I feel like maybe theirs is more accurate. I waited about 7 or 8 weeks for mine but it came back that the sample had failed, so I had to do it again. The second time around was successful and it did come back very quickly, like they put a rush on it. Lol

I hope you share you results! I looove finding out about everyone's DNA results. Genealogy is fascinating.

My results shocked me as they showed I was about 95% English-Irish. I always believed it was mostly Scottish (although I'm sure there's some Scottish in there somewhere. That's a given), but it was Irish. The rest was German and Native American.

Yeah definitely. I had no idea about the Scandinavian thing beforehand, so it was cool to find out. I do have a lot of ties to Great Britain, so some of it is definitely Scottish. My aunt has been tracing our genealogy back and there's a lot of people from Scotland on there.

Yeah, was shocked to discover I had zero Native American in me.. also shocked that I had zero Jewish in me either. Considering I grew up with always being called a Jew and even faced some hatred over it, although most of the Jewish women at my school had a thing for me too.. some of them pretty hot.. lol..
