Even people in Mew Jersey are making more because of the Presidents tax cut

The new tax reform law is giving some benefits to New Jerseyans. The Flemington Car and Truck Country Family of Brands, a new and used car dealership in Flemington, is awarding each of its full-time employees a $500 bonus because of the recently passed federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Now if they could only sell cars for a decent price.

I've actually gone there to buy a car. Ended up getting a better deal in Vermont.

Economist after economist lambasted this plan. I'd thought even the CBO wasn't impressed with it either.

Does else anyone get suspicious of companies that do stuff like this?
You mean like when they then turn around and fire thousands of people, and change their schedules to cut their pay, like walmart just did? Yeah, I do.

They aren't "making more". They got a "gift".

I would LOVE to hear about companies offerring GOOD health insurance coverage; maybe a more comprehensive benefits package; meaningful wage increases.

But even if I do here that, it doesn't make me trust them more.

If you open a check and there is more money than you normally get.

You are making more.

I’m sure those middle class employees view it differently that you.
Not if you then have to spend more money on a service that was being provided, or you get taxed from a different end.

If you are correct, the Republicans will lose seats by the masses and this will be a single term presidency.

However, if you are incorrect four more years is pretty much a given

Good news for the brewers

Many businesses got a big Christmas present this year when Congress passed a tax bill. But the gift was particularly generous for one industry: Alcohol.

Under a provision that originally slipped into the Senate version of the bill, beer, spirits and wine producers will get a two-year reduction in federal excise taxes worth $4.2 billion.

Small brewers will see their tax rate cut in half, from $7 to $3.50 per barrel for the first 60,000 barrels. Tax rates for liquor plunge even more, from $13.50 to $2.70 per gallon for the first 100,000 gallons produced or imported.

Can you find one positive thing to say about a couple million people being able to make more money? Is there any upside at all?
If we stop talking about policy, yes it’s nice that there’s a short term benefit for them. Now can you say something negative about the same companies cutting their workforce by closing stores?

Don't you know, you can't say anything negative about businesses simply following their scripture: The Company giveth, and the Company taketh away. :amen:

The topic of the thread is the effect of our Presidents tax cuts on businesses.

I’d be happy to comment on another topic if you’d like to open a thread.

LOL

That’s it?! That is the best defense for your position?

How does one grasp a straw that small?
its an important distinction but most trump supporters have already demonstrated weak receptive language skills. So i dont expect it words to be important.

I keep talking about the economic policy behind the tax cuts and you don’t. Report me if you think I’m derailing.

EMKAY, Inc. has announced that all full-time employees will receive a $1,000 bonus in response to the tax reform that was just signed by President Trump. EMKAY, a privately-owned fleet management company, wasted no time in taking action to pass the benefits of this reform on to their team.

Apple, which has come under major criticism for building much of its popular products in China, announced a sweeping set of moves partially tied to the recent tax bill, including paying $38 billion in taxes from profits made overseas and opening another corporate campus.

And 20,000 new jobs in the US
