Interested in being one of them ?
Will you be one of them ?

It helps if you explain what you mean?

Are you talking about some cyberneticbreak through, or something else?

Isaiah 40:28-31 is an explicit promise to empower those who "wait on the Lord".

Just as the disciples were empowered on the day of Pentecost.
Just as Jesus Himself was empowered on the day He went to 'John the Baptist'

Spiritually speaking.

Becasue God is Spirit, it is the Spirit that is transformed.
Six sentances later it explains that these people have so much
power
in this world that they will even help their neighbor with
encouragement and deeds.

41:6 They help every one his neighbor; and every one saith to his brother, Be of good courage. 7 So the carpenter encourageth the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smiteth the anvil, saying of the soldering, It is good; and he fasteneth it with nails, that it should not be moved.

So your neighbor has an anvil and you help nail it down for him. This is
an example of helping others. Those who wait on God have the power
to see beyond their shoes and to help others cope with problems.
Yes, this is very powerful stuff.

It's a promise of supernatural empowerment. To those who "wait on the Lord" .....

I don't think it a stretch to say those who get this empowerment become "super" persons.

I'd say it accurate to say Jesus (and later His Apostles) were supermen ... (just not acting like the worldly think a "superman" would act)

Neither the Lord now His apostles were "supermen". Jesus is the God-Man, as far as His humanity goes, He was as all others, in His resurrection He was transformed and glorified; the same will be true of those who trust in Him at the resurrection of the dead on the last day.

Yes, there will be a transformation, a bodily one, at the resurrection.

When the Spirit was poured out on Pentecost the apostles did not become "supermen", they remained ordinary mortal sinners the same as they had been before. The gift of the Holy Spirit does not make us "super", it means God has fulfilled His promise to us in Jesus. The Holy Spirit is in me by the grace of God, and He is the promise of God that even as Christ was raised from the dead so shall I be raised up on the last day (Romans 8:11).

There is no good reason to think the Isaiah 29-31 promised empowerment cannot come right now ...
or whenever the Lord chooses to make it happen.
It is not accurate to say the newly empowered Apostles "remained ordinary mortal sinners" .....

I am confident Jesus can empower whosoever He chooses right now... or whenever,
just as they were empowered on the day of Pentecost.

29 He gives power to the faint, and to those who have no might He increases strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall,
31 but those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.

Now COMBINE this with Jesus promise: "If you ask anything in My name, I will do it." John 14:14

Acts 1 ...... Jesus commanded them, “Do not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, .......
5 For John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 ...........7...........
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
And you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Careful SkyWriting - Isaiah 41:5-7 is not about helping people by the power of God. It's about making idols against the power of God. Cross reference it with Isaiah 40:19,20 and Jeremiah 10:3,4.
The context is the invasion by a righteous man from the east of the land Israel and the fear this engenders in the ungodly.

Hi JohnP - The declaration of Isaiah 40:28-31 is a true and mighty word. Praise God that it is so and that it will be so.
But :) your OP is a little bit airy. It comes across a bit like a recruiting poster for ? . So Joe Doe and Jane Dee turn up and say, Hey that sounds exciting. Where do we sign up? How much will it cost?
What are you going to tell them?

Isaiah 40:28-31 is an explicit promise to empower those who "wait on the Lord".

Just as the disciples were empowered on the day of Pentecost.
Just as Jesus Himself was empowered on the day He went to 'John the Baptist'

How to seriously misread the Bible in two easy steps:

1) Assume that everything written in the Bible is about me.
2) Ignore the context of the text entirely, and just invent your own meaning.

Isaiah 40 is about God's promise of comfort to His people, even as just previously the prophet has spoken of the judgment against the people at the hand of the Babylonians,

"Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, 'Hear the word of the LORD of hosts: Days are coming when all that is in your house, and that which your ancestors have stored up until this day, shall be carred to Babylon; nothing shall be left, says the LORD. Some of your own sons who are born to you shall be taken away; they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.' Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, 'The word of the LORD that you have spoken is good.' For he thought, 'There will be peace and security in my days.'" - Isaiah 39:5-8

Note how Isaiah 40 starts out,

"Comfort, O comfort My people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that she has served her term, that her penalty is paid, that she has received from the LORD's hand double for all her sins." - Isaiah 40:1-2

Israel, suffering and having served her time in exile, is now to be comforted and strengthened, God never abandoned her. That is the context here, God shall give strength and comfort to His people who wait upon Him, trust upon Him, who endure the time of exile after which God will return them to the land, return them to the holy mountain and restore Jerusalem.

There's literally nothing here about getting super powers or anything ridiculous like that.

Anyone seen these at-home CRISPR kits? Some of them even come with a gene pack for muscle strength. People are altering their genes in their own homes now to become supermen. We live in troubling times.

The DIY CRISPR kits let you modify non-pathogenic E. coli by using specific solutions which make the bacteria resistant to a very specific kind of antibacterial--and that's it.

Mail-Order CRISPR Kits Allow Absolutely Anyone to Hack DNA

You can't genetically modify yourself with a sample of bacteria, expensive solutions in tubes, and a pipette. That's not how it works.

That is not all that is available. I am specifically referring to the kit that alters the Myostatin Gene which is what limits muscle growth. Some people are born without it and that is known as "strongman syndrome". $20 Human Myostatin Knockout . The owner of this site is already using it on himself and personally believes our genes belong to us and we should have the right to edit them.

Quote from the site.
"I want to say that I have successfully had the OpenHuman DNA synthesized, turned that DNA into a plasmid vector and sequenced it. I will begin distributing it soon with a protocol on how to add whatever gene you wish or pay someone else a few hundred dollars to add it for you."

So what does this mean?

  • It means that anyone has an inexpensive way to take any gene from any organism and effectively insert it into Human cells.
  • The plasmid DNA can be replicated in bacteria so you yourself can grow up as much as you want and distribute it to whoever for the cost of sugar.
  • This plasmid vector can be used for everything from DNA vaccines to cell line work, Follistatin overexpression to neo-antigen peptide expression.

I find it interesting and very, very telling that the Great men of God from Paul down woulds all have regarded themselves, not as 'SuperMen of God' but as the chief of sinners.

Looking to be a 'SuperMan for God' will land you nowhere fast.

Study some church history, those who did great things for God always, without any exception gave the Glory to God.
