To be fair, according to one article, he indicated that "Fox News
viewers and NPR listeners are living on different planets in terms
of what news they consume."

So Fox News wasn't being singled out. Fox and NPR are living on
different planets. Which is just another way of saying that
they're going to provide different spins on any given story.

The media can definitely shape your world, which is one reason
I avoid it like the plague. Most of it probably isn't even true,
regardless of the spin. Just look at this topic: So far, it's he-
said-she-said. No footage of Obama actually saying what it's
said that he said.

The fact that I don't watch any news and doubt much of what
I do see of it puts me not only on a different planet, but a
whole 'nother galaxy, where when the media says "Jump!", we
don't instantly ask "How high?" ;)

Well ... what do you know ... that's a fairly different premise than the topic's title suggests .. .

Well, based on just how detached from reality some loyal viewers of Fox seem to be, it's not an altogether untrue observation.

It takes a whole lot of rejecting objective reality to believe anything uttered by the likes of Sean Hannity--who seems like about one gay frog away from becoming Alex Jones.

Did you post in the forum originally? It really does not fit the spirit of this forum.

If not in the kitchen sink what do you recommend?

Didn't know you were a moderator.

He's not worth wasting our time on. I'm clinging to my religion and he's too closed-minded to understand why.

Oh, so you're a Pennsylvania Democratic primary voter in 2008?

I simply made three true statements. Obama is irrelevant. He did so much damage to his party that the nation elected someone as unconventional as Trump. Democrats have spent the last year wisely putting him behind them and trying to repair the damage.I used to be a Democrat back when they cared about white rural white men. Now they treat us like we're irrelevant. I'm not a huge fan of Trump but he won because folks like me were vilified. Despite what Obama and Hillary claim guys like me are not evil and I think they forgot that we're still allowed to vote since they completely ignored us.

No they didn't. Remember how the Democrat candidate got almost 3,000,000 more votes then the Republican? I know people don't like to be reminded that President Trump started out his administration as the least popular candidate, but rewriting history and pretending President Trump is in office because a majority of voters put him there is never going top be true.

Democrats have spent the last year wisely putting him behind them and trying to repair the damage.
...which would explain why he's still more popular then President Trump. ;)

I used to be a Republican, until they decided rich people were more important than anyone else in America. I guess that makes us even. And I hate to break it to you: only 19% of the population of America live in rural areas. which means 81% of the population live in urban areas. And that 19% is still shrinking. Something that should be pointed out? Those urban areas tend to support those rural areas as far as taxes go. It's a hard truth.

I'm not a huge fan of Trump but he won because folks like me were vilified.
No you weren't, you were manipulated by a snake oil salesman who claimed you were vilified when all that really happened was the Democrats went and campaigned among the majority of taxpaying Americans. A lot of rural voters (who lived in those big empty States) decide to vote for a d-list reality tv show host and now we're all paying for him to play golf all the time.

Despite what Obama and Hillary claim guys like me are not evil
Could you provide a couple of in context quotes from President Obama or Sec. Clinton calling rural white male voters evil?

and I think they forgot that we're still allowed to vote since they completely ignored us.
...so which one was it? Were you ignored or were you vilified? Just curious. :sorry:

Right off the bat I could tell you don't pay attention to folks you don't agree with. I never said Trump won the popular vote. If you want to make an attempt to understand how people who aren't like you feel I would suggest watching CNNs "Why Trump Won" by Fareed Zacharia. (spelled his last name wrong) The Clinton News Network is liberal so you may actually believe what he says. It may open your eyes up to the world. If you think the combo of Obama-Clinton haven't damaged your party your eyes are clearly closed because Hillary would be president without the damage they did. Because of political correctness you lost. Bernie Sanders would have beaten Trump but because he was a man didn't have the opportunity.....your party shot itself in the foot with its political correctness.

uhmm...no, What I did was correct you when you said:
Obama is irrelevant. He did so much damage to his party that the nation elected someone as unconventional as Trump.
If "he'd done so much damage" then why did so many more people vote for her over him? The only reason President Trump got elected was A) empty State votes count for a lot more then in States where the majority of Americans live. and B) evidently some Republicans REALLY like reality tv show hosts. I understood what you said, I was just trying to correct a statement you had made I thought was erroneous. :sorry:

2 points: 1) I don't have/watch cable news. None of them. I usually get my info from online print. and 2) There's that "damage" thing again. Let me just say this: I've been a Democrat for a long time now, since President Reagan actually (the last Republican I ever voted for by the way) and I've seen Democrats snatch defeat from the very jaws of victory too often to believe the whole "oh this candidate or that one did so much damage! and that's why they lost." :sigh:

Because of political correctness you lost. Bernie Sanders would have beaten Trump but because he was a man didn't have the opportunity.....your party shot itself in the foot with its political correctness.
And here I thought it was because of an archaic, out dated voting system that gave empty states an advantage over States where people actually live and a fondness some people have for faux "men of the people" who had tv shows. Silly me.
tulc(thanks you for the suggestion on "why trump won" he'll see if it's on youtube)

I simply made three true statements. Obama is irrelevant.

Of course, he is not irrelevant.

He was the FIRST non white male president of the US in it's almost 250 year history.

Nothing will ever change that.

Beyond that, he presided over the recovery from the "Great Recession", ... where the DOW recovered from the 8000 point low achieved by Obama's Republican predecessor .... to the 20000 point mark it had achieved when Trump came into power.

Besides that, his name still signifies the first major attempt to extend health care insurance to to almost all Americans. Even after a year of a federal government where the edge is held by Republicans in every branch, ... THEY HAVE FAILED to erase that singular piece of legislation.

So, even though many would like to believe that Obama was not elected BY A MAJORITY of American for TWO TERMS, you'll never be able to erase those FACTS.

Might as well accept it and try to MOVE FORWARD, friend.

IT IS DONE !!

I never said he was historically irrelevant. I understand how important his election was. I meant he is irrelevant to today's political scene because he really didn't do anything in 8 years. Obamacare created more problems than it fixed so that's the opposite of an accomplishment. He "fixed" the economy by doing what anybody could do....throwing money at a problem. His policies added ten trillion dollars in debt that will affect the poor and middle class someday. His daughters will never be hurt by it unless the whole economy collapses but your kids and grandkids will. Can you seriousely think of a single accomplishment he had in 8 years that didn't cause more problems than it fixed?

Obama is out of touch.
Was then -- even more now.

Obama's trying hard to save his legacy which is heading down the tubes. His many lies and deceit are catching up with him.

M-Bob

Anybody who thinks that Trump is in touch is out of touch with reality. Now as for Obama's legacy, thanks to Trump, his approval rating has gone UP.
