I ask God to give me a lot of money, if possibly, 1 billion dollars,
so that I can buy a private jet to travel the world.

I always think about money, dream about winning a lottery jackpot.

I pray for money.
I have no heart to study Bible.
I don't want "just enough money to survive".

Am I very wrong?

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:10)

I wonder if you have had an experience that makes you more focused on getting rich than some other people. It would be interesting to explore with a counseling professional. My experience is that the more I try to shut these thoughts up, the worse they get. It's like the old "don't think about pink elephants" thing. My thought is to study scripture, but also explore what you think money can do for you in a gentle way. Minds don't respond well to harshness and self-judgment, or at least mine doesn't.

I think like @Christie insb said, what is it that you think the money will do for you? My guess is that you think it will make you happy. Granted, not having to work and having the money to satisfy your whims sounds fun, and it is, it won't make you a happier person. Comfort is comfortable but it is not happy.

Most people are not truly happy unless they are helping others. All the mega-billionaires, after they have their boat, house, cars, women, and whatever else their heart desires, end up with an empty feeling like "is that it? Is that all there is to it?" They they start giving and working for charities and churches and they become truly happy and free.

I don't think it's wrong to pray for money but I think people end up a lot happier when they pray for knowledge of God;s will for their life and the power to carry that out.

Why do you think having a lot of money is bad?

1Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1Jn 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

It's more of a heart issue than anything else. What is your faith in? Is your faith in GOD or in the world? Most people believe if they just had more money, their life would be better and they would be happier and so this is what they set their affections upon. You need to read Ecclesiastes, It was written by Solomon one of the wealthiest people to ever live and the wisest. He would tell you that it's all vanity. It emphatically will not make you happy. That is the illusion of this world. Money is not bad in and of itself, but the lust for money will corrupt and defile a man.

To me it's not necessrily bad to have money. Money is like a helicopter -- it can be good or bad, something that helps us pursue the things that matter or a complete distraction from anything that is good. Having a lot of money and the materialistic attitudes often required to get it distracts us from loving the Lord with all our might and loving our neighbor as ourselves. And it can put you in compromising situations if that is your primary goal. Anyway. What do you think having a lot of money is going to do for you?

I have thought a few times about what life would be like to win the lottery and have lots of money and I think for a spiritual Christian it is a burden.

From what I understand of people who do come in to money (not born w it) is that people and relationships change so much. Like everyone is interested in getting money from you or getting what you have that the person ends up feeling a lone and used. Especially from family and friends.

It changed who you are and their interest in you because they will view you differently then.

I think also with all the pain and sickness and hardship in the world it would be a heavy burden. To know how much change and good you could do wrestling against our own pride, ego and lust for posessions.

I don’t think it would be that great for me. I think it would be a burden. Drawing me away from God towards my own sinfullness.

Can you explain why did God give Solomon, Job etc a lot of properties?
Well, you have to remember things were much different back then and these are God’s chosen people.

Solomon was a King, the son of King David and was given wisdom by God. I think Solomon’s issue was women not wealth, per se.

Job went through a lot and God allowed Job to loose everything except his life.

Since this was God’s chosen people and the land was the promised land, promised to Israel by God, it doesn’t surprise me that many of the. Early patriarchs had a lot of land. Land was the main inheritance from a father to his sons.

But it sounds like you are interested in money and possessions. For what purpose? What would you do with a billion dolllars if you had it?

If God can promise us the New Jerusalem and abundant life with all wealth and good things, then why not he also give us a lot of money in this life?

1 Timothy 6:10
"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.
Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith
and pierced themselves with many griefs."

And you say this about yourself:

"I always think about money, dream about winning a lottery jackpot."
"I pray for money."
"I have no heart to study Bible."

Dispel your idol (love of money), repent asap!

I was thinking about how does my family's income compare to other peoples in
the world?
Out of curiosity I checked our family income on global rich, the link for it is here: Global Rich List
Some of the results it came up with was this:
In 1 hour you make $25.00
Meanwhile, the average labourer in Indonesia makes just $0.39 in the same time.

You earn $48,000 in 1 year.
It would take the average labourer in Ghana 300 years to earn the same amount.

It would take the average labourer in Zimbabwe 47 years to earn the same amount.

It’ll only take you a minute to earn enough for a refreshing can of cola.
If the average labourer in Indonesia fancies one, they’ll have to work for around
2 hours for it.
