My recommendation would be to quit the game. No matter how much money you've put into the game, what has a billion times more value is your relationship with God. You never want to ruin that in the name of something that will pass away. Focus on the things that will last forever (e.g. your relationship with God).

Okay so I'm playing this game on Kongregate. Its called Dungeon Crusher. In this game there are heroes that you can pay real $$$ for that are made up gods. And whenever people refer to them they refer to them as "the gods". This extremely bugs me because I only believe in one God and I think that all people should believe in the same God I do. This game is also completely full of atheists who blaspheme the name of our Lord 50,000 times a day and they keep saying things like "the gods be willing rngesus will give you the drop you need". I find it SO offensive! Then they went on when I got offended and said that people used to sacrifice animals to Jesus so why not sacrifice other things to hope that they get the drop they need? Then I go on to explain why people used to sacrifice animals to Jesus and they just laugh at me!

Its just SO offensive and it makes me want to stop playing the game. But I also spent a lot of money on this game and I like playing it and I've made friends on the game that I like talking to. I'm also pretty far in the game and I'm pretty popular. Should I keep playing it even if most people insult and mock me for my religious beliefs? I know our Lord said we will be mocked and persecuted for following him but I can't take it anymore! I'm sick of people blaspheming the name of my Lord and Savior! I wish they'd stop! Or at least be semi respectful to my religious beliefs. I respect that they're atheists! I don't insult and mock them for their beliefs! Nor do I mock the name of Albert Einstein or whoever they look up to! So why the double standard? Why is my Lord insulted and mocked while theirs is just left behind? Its so stupid!

I say if the game and its players are making your severely unhappy/uncomfortable then yes, stop playing it. Yeah, you've spent money on it, but you can save money in the future by ceasing your gameplay. However, if you can get past all that, don't mind spending money, have fun playing the game, and do not feel like the game is leading you to sin, then by all means keep playing. Your choice comes down to what is best for you. Only you can make this decision.

That's the worst part I wasn't. I could feel that Jesus wanted me to bring these people to God but I just couldn't bring myself to it. But I wasn't doing anything and they attacked me.
I tend to look at things like that as they are attacking Jesus, not me or you. Or are they just attacking someone as part of the game? Either way, you will get worse in life than this as you live as a Christian.

You do realize that atheism only means disbelief in gods. Doesn’t mean they revere any scientist or rock star any more than other people do.

Also if you talk like that in game no wonder you are mocked.

Either you realize that in the game nobody gives any thought about your indignation, your god or other beliefs or you quit.

They don’t blaspheme on purpose because they don’t believe anyway, just probing your reactions and if you get heated up for nothing it will be amusing for them.

Hey brother, it sounds like the game is not a good environment for you. If the Lords name is continually being dragged through the mud, that is a good sign that what is happening there is spiritually corrupt.

I guess it depends on what you value most; your popularity or being free from a community which offends you and mocks your beliefs and your Lord.

I know our Lord said we will be mocked and persecuted for following him

Yes, we may not be able to avoid it in real life, but you're playing a game.

but I can't take it anymore!

Sounds like that might be your answer.

I'm sick of people blaspheming the name of my Lord and Savior! I wish they'd stop! Or at least be semi respectful to my religious beliefs.

Are they there to befriend you, find out about and respect your beliefs, or to play a game?
We are told not to conform to the standard of the world, but we still live in the world - and also in the world are people who hate Christ.

I respect that they're atheists! I don't insult and mock them for their beliefs! Nor do I mock the name of Albert Einstein or whoever they look up to! So why the double standard?

Because some people hate Jesus. They might find him threatening, and therefore try to dismiss him, they might find the whole Christian faith ridiculous and mock it, to try and show that they are more sophisticated. Jesus said that if people hate him, they will hate us too.
If their language and behaviour is offensive to you or stressing you out to the point where "you can't stand it any more"; then don't. UNLESS the Lord has given you a clear word to stay and witness to them.

So why the double standard? Why is my Lord insulted and mocked while theirs is just left behind? Its so stupid!

Christians have always been in the minority; some suffer far worse persecution than a bit of name calling. The world persecuted Jesus; they'll persecute us too - even if only to a minor extent.

What does the Lord say you should do?

A Google search result defines "RNGesus" as the following:

"RNG stands for Random Number Generator. It's the part of a game that controls all of the random events within the game, like drops from enemies or lottery-type minigames. RNGesus combines RNG with the name of Jesus, who's a guy that some people praise because he did some good stuff a while back."

This is clearly an insult to the Lord Jesus Christ.

In fact, this is actually a good thing that you are upset about them blaspheming the Lord Jesus Christ's name. I hope it is enough to lead you to see that the game itself is also not a Christian thing in the first place. Some will say to defend you, "It's just fantasy" but Scripture says we are to lead every thought captive in obedience to Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Dungeon Crusher promotes the idea that "sorcery" or "witchcraft" can be good or okay. Yet, the Bible clearly condemns these things (2 Chronicles 33:6) (Galatians 5:19-21).

I used to struggle with continuing to watch superhero films and TV shows. I grew up drawing comic book characters all the way up into my teenage years and even wanted to work for Marvel Comics. I collected the comics. It was my thing. So when the Avengers movie came out it was like my childhood dream was coming to life. However, a problem arose as I wanted to be loyal to Christ and yet loyal to watching Marvel films. I had to deal with several things as I continued to watch these movies.

#1. The Violence.
Yes, in the Old Testament, God allowed His people to act violently to attack and destroy His enemies. But we are not under the Old Testament anymore. We are under a New Testament with new commands; And Jesus desires us to turn the other cheek if we are struck violently. Paul says we are not to repay evil for evil and we are not to be overcome by evil but we are to overcome evil with good (Romans 12:17-21). We are New Covenant believers and not Old Covenant believers.

#2. Worldly thinking.
Major decisions are not made by involving God in these films. So they rely upon their own thinking and own power to resolve problems. The Bible says there is a way that seems right to a man but the end thereof is death. When we do not include God in our decision making process, the end is death.

#3. Witchcraft.
Lord of the Rings, the Chronicles of Narnia all do not have a problem with magic. It is either a neutral thing or can even be a part of those who side with the good guys.

#4. Other Sins.
Swearing, taking the Lord's name in vain, sexual immorality, etc.

What helped me to put away watching secular movies were films like Doctor Strange and Deadpool (of which I did not see in their entirety, but I had seen video clips or scenes from them). First, Doctor Strange is a sorcerer or magician in the comic books. I know they try to explain that he is just tapping into some Matrix like code within the universe but that is still sorcerery or witchcraft. We can only have power by the power of God and it has to be within His will and not our own. Deadpool uses extremely fowl language and dirty sick humor to sell itself. Yes, I realize that is the character, but it is still wrong to promote such darkness. There is also brief nudity and unecessary excessive violence in these films, as well. Heroes can be immoral and it is okay. Also, I used to enjoy watching Daredevil the TV series on Netflix. I used to collect and read the comics long before this series came out. So it was exciting to me. But one thing I could not see while I was enjoying this series was that Daredevil is actually dressed up as somebody who portrays God's enemy (i.e. the devil). Daredevil is a representation of sin. I could not see it until I put these movies and shows out of my life.

So it is my encouragement to you to put away secular movies, shows, games, books, comics, etc. out of your life. They will only lead you away from God and not towards Him.

The one passage I always struggled with while I watched these films was 1 John 2:15-17. Please read this passage over and over every week or so and pray over it and ask God to give you the strength to overcome the lustful things of this world. For it is only by the power of God can you overcome such a thing.

May God bless you;
And may you please be well.

  • A question you need to ask yourself. Does this game uplift Jesus Christ?
  • If it does not why am I doing this?

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

I was playing Skyrim the other day and had this thought as well. I don't know if I'm correct in my thinking on the matter, but I don't actually treat/acknowledge the "the gods" in the game like God (the real God). I feel that my mindset in this matter is me not putting any idols before God, I'm not treating "the gods" as I would my God.

Maybe I'm not correct in my thinking, but this is how I thought I should go about this.

In general people are always taking His name in vain. To them its not a big deal, God is just as fictional as any other "god". It does bug me. But I do my best to not let it bother me because its not like I can force people to stop saying what they do. Though if it were someone close to me I'd ask them to politely not say certain things when we are together.

As for the game, nothing wrong with playing the game as long as you feel its not messing with your mind. Or unless its something that may have satanic stuff in it. For example I played a pretty great game but near the end of it there was pentagrams everywhere with burning candles and I REALLY didn't like that because satanism is not a fictional thing. So I stopped playing the game.

As for talking to these people about. Its great you had the courage to explain things to them. And just as Jesus, we will be hated because of His name and what we stand for and believe in. But in the end if talking them about Jesus is a road that leads no where then I wouldn't bother bringing it up. Its casting pearls before swine. Though maybe one day someone you've talked to may go through something in their life and think back to what you said and be like "I remember one time you had talked to us about God and at the time I ridiculed you with everyone else. But now I am realizing maybe God is real and I need Jesus in my life! Can you talk to me privately?".

Pretty much most of all secular movies, music, games, books, comics (unless they are 100% purely educational works) are satanic in influence in some way (i.e. they are of this world). Dungeon Crusher is wrong in my book because it has no problem with sorcerers being good guys. Yet, the Bible condemns sorcery.

For example: Some Christians do not find any wrong with the Chronicles of Narnia. However....

"The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" is the third book in the Narnia series. It directly promotes spells and magic.

Chapter 10 ("The Magician's Book") features a book of spells that is on an island inhabited by invisible creatures called Dufflepuds. Lucy works a spell to make the Dufflepuds visible. She goes through a spell book, and it is beautiful and fascinating. Then she finds the right spell and says the words and follows the instructions. And then the Dufflepuds (and Aslan) become visible. Her spell made Aslan visible, and he is pleased with what she did.

The book of spells is beautiful and fascinating. One spell is illustrated with pictures of bees that look as if they are really flying. In the world of C.S. Lewis’ day, this would not have caused practical problems. However, these days, kids can go to regular bookstores and buy spell books written by modern witches.

Many Christians are treating the Narnia books as being an allegory, with Aslan representing Jesus and the children representing Christians. If you do this with “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” then you portray Jesus as being pleased when Christians do magic and work spells. And you support the idea that that there are “good” spells and “good” magic. That belief is the basis for modern “white” witchcraft. However, the Bible clearly forbids any form of witchcraft:

"There shall not be found among you anyone who... practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD." (Deuteronomy 18:10-12)

Hi!

I see that you love God with your heart.
Listen to what the Lord is teaching you.
You know already what you should do.
:)

I was both a big gamer and a big anime/manga fan.
When I got to know Lord, I decided to serve Him 100%.
Because He is worthy of all praise!
So i threw all my mangas, games and other stuff that was against God and did not match up with what the Lord taught us.
I even threw some of my own arts that were not appropriate.
I had characters in GW2 at their max level and I had some items worth handsome price.
I Had many other games (including PS 2, PS3, wii, etc), even boardgames, that I have bought.
I bet the total of money is.. above thousands of dollar.
But Jesus said you cannot serve both God and Money.
Money was not worth God.
I closed my eyes and threw it all out.
And i must say, my heart felt much lighter.

Do not hate the people who mocked but pray for them with love.
Because they do not know what they are saying.
The world will hate those that do not belong to it.
Surely you were called to be seperate
You were bought with a price.
:)

God bless you!

Dear brother in Christ, you can find the answer on your question in the book of psalms by the Saint King David. Psalm 1 -
"blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers". Christ is born!

There are several things I would ask myself:

1) How much time am I spending on this game?
2) How much money am I spending on this game?
3) Is Jesus (whom I SAY is Lord of my life) pleased with how I'm investing my (actually HIS) time & money?
4) Is there a BETTER way to meet the need I sense and try to meet playing the game?

What I am saying is this: we all have needs for friends, socializing, "fun" and downtime. But I have a growing concern that, while many computer and/or online activities SEEM to meet these needs, in reality they are distractions, time wasters and "cyber sedatives". They occupy SO much of our time, but really don't satisfy, so we come back for more and more and...

Just in case you haven't noticed (lol), there's a big, wide world out there! You might want to go explore some of it, meeting some REAL people with real needs whom you might be able to influence for Christ (since it certainly doesn't appear that you are able to impact your current gamer community spiritually, and THEY are dragging YOU down.)

Don't get me wrong, there are certainly many benefits of cyberspace, but my fear is that we will stand before Christ as He asks, "Did you make disciples, as I commanded you?", and we will only be able to reply, "No, but I captured both the golden chalice and the ruby scepter in DragonFire VI!"

I think there is going to be a long and VERY uncomfortable silence at that moment. Just sayin...

Contact the people you like and see if they are on a tamer game and maybe you can hook up with them elsewhere online or in person.

Dump the game. We tend to become what we allow around us.
