Depends on how tired I am that day, I guess. I always feel more anxious in the doctor's or dentist's office so I'm just glad to get out of there haha. Getting tired afterwards does make sense too, though.

Eh, people said having a playoff would fix it. Now there’s a playoff and everyone’s upset that their team isn’t in it. Some folks are never going to be satisfied.

A playoff was an improvement on the previous system. Having only four teams is silly though. No other sport has only a four-team playoff. And one of the four (Alabama) didn't even win their conference championship, let alone play in the conference championship game. It's just a bad look when a four-team playoff results in two teams from the same conference playing each other in the championship. They really need to go to eight teams to be where they want to be.

It’s entertainment. It doesn’t “need” to be anything. Athletics have taken over college, and most of the players don’t even go professional.

For it to remain entertaining, it does "need" to make improvements. And what difference does it make if the athletes turn professional or not?

Finally finished the TV series Breaking Bad. For some reason I never finished the last season.. there was like a 4-5 year gap to finally conclude the show for myself.

Especially weird, considering I was into the show before it became really popular, lol.

Because kids are in college to learn and prepare for life, not to play over-hyped games.

A lot of life lessons can be learned through athletic involvement actually. And it's not as though they aren't still taking classes. It takes a lot of responsibility and time management to balance both.

People would still have something to say about that, especially if two SEC teams end up playing each other.

Sure there are good lessons to be learned. But “you need to be perfect so you can compete for a national championship” is not one of them. They have enough pressure on them. Let kids be kids and pros be pros.

I don't know where you are getting that from anything I said. That certainly isn't a quote of anything that I said. If anything my criticism would come to bear on the people who are in charge of the structure of the playoff, not the students. I don't really get why you took issue with anything I said. I know you love to be disagreeable but don't you have better things to do with your time?

I absolutely would. I am a football fan in general. I want the sport as a whole to do well, not just my favorite teams. If Wisconsin had made it in actually, I have a feeling we would be guaranteed an 8-team field next year because there would be such an uproar that Alabama isn't in. If it had been Wisconsin and another Big Ten team in the national championship, I would have been glad Wisconsin was in it, but would have also acknowledged it being a bad look for the game to have two teams from the same conference in it when the rankings are still so arbitrarily based.

That is an odd pivot away from what you were just saying though. Is trying to cause a stir just that much fun for you?

My point is, entertainment is meant to distract us for a bit, amuse us, thrill us... once we start stressing over it or depending on it for fulfillment, we’re turning something meant as a blessing into a curse. These things are meant to make life more fun... if they’re dragging you down, you should cast them away. It’s not worth it.
But I know, Paulie, that winning debates is what matters to you, so you’ll deny anything I say. I’ve gotten my point across, though, so that’s all I need to say :smarty:
