The past year of research has made it very clear: Trump won because of racial resentment

Since the turnout was 56% then 57% your comment fails.
That would be 56 people 4 years ago, 57 people four years later.
The voter turnout was 1% higher not 100%.
I will make one more attempt to explain this, and keep percentage the same so you are not confused. Say 100 people in USA voted for president in 2012. Then 101 people voted for president in 2016. The voter turnout is 1% higher. But there is still very low turnout in 2016. Does this help?

But that is malarkey.
Voter totals in 2016 were record levels
in turnout and second highest record for percentages.
So where is the low turnout you are thin'n?

1980 163,945,000 86,497,000 52.8%
1984 173,995,000 92,655,000 53.3%
1988 181,956,000 91,587,000 50.3%
1992 189,493,000 104,600,000 55.2%

In Greece we just hit historic low at 56%. It appears USA is always low turnout.

This certainly explains why Trump pandered to KKK and Nazis. They are 9% of voting population, but if they have big turnout they can effectively be 15-20% of voters.

The main reason why Donald Trump was able to become the GOP nominee for president and win the election is due to the fact that many people feel like foreigners in their own country. They look at the demographic changes that mass immigration, legal and illegal, has brought to America, and they feel like this isn't the country they grew up in. Since Trump wanted to build a wall along the US-Mexican border, he was their man. I wouldn't call it racism, though.

Actually, he didn't appeal to Nazis and KKK members.

They held a victory parade to celebrate Trump's election. David Duke declared that a white person not voting for him was treason against one's culture.

The liberal media fed you that garbage because they supported Hilary.

A lot of people asked themselves, "What could be worse than Hillary?"

And now they know.

Who cares what David Duke says? Since when do people pay attention to him?

...still can't find any way to address what's in the OP except by attacking Sec Clinton or President Obama? So while I do appreciate you proving my point for me, I was wondering if you have anything you can come up with that would apply to what was said in the OP, or was this just another attempt to distract from the D-list reality tv show host the Republicans elected to be the face of the Republican Party?
tulc(is just curious)
Uhh... because those were the two choices? Saying a person must answer for everything individual thing their candidate they voted for does is ridiculous because none of us can control the individual choices a candidate makes. The only thing we can do is evaluate their campaign platform and their trustworthiness and assess who is the better candidate over all.

If Trump does X that's bad, then "well Hillary would have been even worse" is the proper response. If there was the option for a different candidate who hat a lot of the good attributes Trump has without as many of the bad, then sure I'd have voted differently, but that's not an option. The options are Trump are Hillary. No one every claimed Trump is perfect or that we support every individual thing he does.

If you want to talk about a specific issue, then we can talk about the details of the issue, but if you just want to bash Trump then that's the response you'll get, Hillary is worse. If you want to criticize us for the speck it our eye because we voted for Trump then you should first take out the log in your own eye from voting for Hillary.

And regarding the reason why Trump was elected, why are you surprised? Black people have spent that last couple generations having the majority of the kids out of wedlock, fathers not raising their kids, doing drugs, dropping out of high school, joining gangs, murdering each other. All that is stuff they made their own decision to do, and it has nothing to do with white people. Us white people tried to tell you to not have kids before marriage and you didn't listen, so your kids grow up with their fathers, and all the behavioral problems associated with that, so of course they have trouble as adults.

I still have a little bit of sympathy for blacks because they can't control the fact their mom decided to have sex and get pregnant by a deadbeat and now the kid has to suffer the poor decisions of the parents, but you're on really thin ice trying to blame White people for your own family's problems. We'd be happy to help if you'd just admit the truth "Hey, I had really deadbeat parents and I need some help adjusting to life as an adult", but if you're a harlot and you sleep around with a dozen guys, and you get pregnant, and instead of admitting you're a horrible mom and you need help you blame white people, well you've made your bed go lie in it.

(snip)
Actually there were several candidates you could vote for. It was your choice. I chose to vote for Sec. Clinton because I honestly believe she was the best candidate for the job. She wasn't my "lesser of two evils" she would have been (IMHO) a great President. As for President Trump, he hasn't done or said anything I didn't expect him to do or to say. He's so obviously out of his depth in this job and it was obvious to me from day one his administration was going to be a dumpster fire from the beginning. And he hasn't shown me anything that says anything different yet. :sigh:

...wow. You couldn't have posted anything to prove the OP if you were trying. So...thanks? :sorry:

I voted for Obama twice. He promised change and we sure got it! Change in and of itself is not always good.

So this time I decided to actually listen to what kind of change was proposed by the candidates. Trump got me immediately! I was on the trumptrain even before there was a trumptrain!

I did not vote for a man. I did not even care much for the man. I voted for his plans, his ideas, and his determination to MAGA!

Now, I have come to love our president for the things he has done.... Stop Isis, reduce taxes, bring our economy roaring back, support our military and police, take care of our vets, support Christianity, and love for our county!

All this in just one year with zero pay. Trump is not our president for fame or riches. He already had all that. Trump became president because he cares about our nation and its people.

To make this a simple black vs white issue is not only foolish but it is a part of the democratic playbook of divide and conquer.

Thank God Americans woke up!

That may have been a factor, only becasue it was about culture all the way, not race specifically.
Trump was the closest cultural match to the population.
Then how do you explain that Clinton got more popular vote than Trump? By your logic, Clinton was the closest cultural match. But, neither got a majority so there was a large number that didn't like either, which may have played as much of a role as race.

Look at the map of counties and state wins... You will see a sea of red!
It is my contention that Hillary greatly benefited in states where illegals were allowed to vote. It is further evidence of voting fraud that these places did not allow for a review of voting practices. Also democrats fight voter identification laws and plans to stop illegal immigration. They don't want to lose their voter base.
I maintain that more Americans voted for Trump and 2020 will be a landslide election for him if he runs again.

All this in just one year with zero pay.

Not quite. He finally won something, and it was a whopping tax cut for himself and his friends. So he made a lot more than the $200,000 he was actually entitled to.

Trump has become the first president in 40 years to refuse to release his tax returns, making it hard to know exactly how much he would gain from his tax policy. But a letter from Trump’s lawyers last year said nearly all his companies count as pass-through entities.

“You hold interests as the sole or principal owner in approximately 500 separate entities,” Morgan Lewis attorneys Sheri Dillon and William Nelson wrote in a letter released by the Trump campaign. “Because you operate these businesses almost exclusively through sole proprietorships and/or closely held partnerships, your personal federal income tax returns are inordinately large and complex for an individual.”

Many of Trump’s signature properties, including the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Fla., and the Trump-branded golf courses across the country, are linked to limited liability companies that would qualify as pass-throughs under the tax code, financial disclosure filings show.
Trump could personally benefit from last-minute change to Senate tax bill

Beginning to realize why he's the only presidential candidate to hide his tax returns? The pass-through provision passed, BTW; he'll make millions on that little move alone.

All that money isn't coming out of nowhere, BTW:
Senate tax bill would cut taxes of wealthy and increase taxes on families earning less than $75,000 by 2027
The tax bill Senate Republicans are championing would give large tax cuts to the rich while raising taxes on American families earning $10,000 to $75,000 over the next decade, according to a report released Thursday by the Joint Committee on Taxation, Congress’s official nonpartisan analysts.

President Trump and Republican lawmakers have been heralding their bill as a win for hard-working Americans, but the JCT report casts doubt on that claim. Tax increases for households earning $10,000 to $30,000 would start in 2021 and grow sharply from there, JCT found. By 2027, most Americans earning $75,000 a year or less would be forced to pay more in taxes, while people earning more than $100,000 a year would continue to pay less. The report generated intense debate on Capitol Hill.
Senate tax bill would cut taxes of wealthy and increase taxes on families earning less than $75,000 by 2027

Good for me, apparently, but not so great for most Americans, who are going to be told to pay up more of their earnings to pay for Trump's big tax cut.

Trump is not our president for fame or riches.

Ask him if he'll give back that tax cut he got for himself. Don't hold your breath.
