No. I just take a more rational approach. I don’t believe every sniffle or sore throat is from Satan or God trying to judge/test me. Things happen. It’s life.

Then for you "more rational" = "less Biblical".

Maybe not for me.

But this feels like a more significant event. It costs me lots of time and money. The Lord has brought this into my life for some reason.

I've got mice in my house as well. I put out mouse traps and occasionally catch one. It costs very little to buy some traps: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Jensen-M032-Easy-Set-Mouse-Traps-4-Count/12166945

EDIT: I just saw in post 86 that you already are doing this. Good!
Just remember that just because you suddenly have alot of mice that it must be sent from God for a specific reason. It's possible that a source of food was accidently left somewhere around your home and it's attracting mice.

No it means I don’t obsess over normal events and get an ulcer in the process.

Do you think that a thoughtful reflection on God's presence in the midst of life's normal travails is an unhealthy obsession?

It can be if you spend too much time trying to figure out what God is trying to tell you at every moment. If you start to back your car out of the driveway to go to work and a line of traffic suddenly starts coming, you could question if it's a sign that God wants you to stay home. But then you continue on your journey and then traffic is backed up more than usual and you wonder if God is given you another sign that you should have stayed home. So then you go back home and stay there. Then you lose your job because you didn't go to work that day, and then you wonder if God is trying to show you that you weren't supposed to be at that job any longer anyway. Then you have a hard time finding another job and end up with financial difficulties, and you wonder if God is telling you that he wants you to live as a homeless person, so then you do that.
It could go on and on like this.

I agree that this would be rather neurotic.

Do you see this kind of thinking exhibited in this thread?

Well, to some degree I see it in your OP. I was just taking it further to illustrate what happens if we apply it to everything on the basis of seeing God as attempting to show us something or speak to us in every single thing that happens in our life. I think that some things are not worth giving a whole lot of thought to unless it is something that causes significant impact on our lives--or is a string of "coincidental" events that seem be a pattern God wants us to see.

I don't see how this conclusion could possibly be derived from the idea that God brings tragedy into the lives of his children. He often does this, as is evidenced in Scripture, because it is necessary in order to bring about greater purposes.
If God by bringing tragedy into a believers life is a good thing; breaking a limb, getting a disease, or losing a loved one (those are tragedies) then it follows we want to train our children in a godly manner so why shouldn't parents act in a godly manner and do this to one their children.
I repeat again, God does not bring tragedy into the lives of His children.
He may have done so in the Old Testament, but not in the New.
When Jesus walked the Earth He went about doing good, healing all that were oppressed, and setting people free from the bondage they were in.
Not one time did Jesus ever give someone a sickness while He was on Earth.
2 Timothy 3:16 says the Word of God is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness.

We just found out that we have mice in our house :confounded::fearscream:.

My wife and I were discussing the theological significance of this the other night and it got me thinking. I know that Yahweh sent mice in order to harass the Philistines (God's judgment upon them). Which reminds me that Yahweh can do more with an army of mice than any king can do with an army of warriors. But I don't believe that we have mice because God is judging us.

However, God may be disciplining us and weaning us off an inappropriate attachment to this world. Our loving Father might certainly do such a thing.

But then I got to thinking about Satan. Some people, when facing an issue like this, might be inclined to think that this is spiritual warfare and that Satan sent these mice to harass them and goad them toward unbelief and sin.

But is this biblical? Satan, through his lies and schemes, certainly is able to have an influence over people. But Satan cannot command anything in creation. He has no control over mice, wind, waves, or anything else. All of creation is under Yahweh's control. Even when Satan harassed Job he had to get Yahweh's permission.

So do I have mice because God is judging me, because God is disciplining me, or because Satan is harassing me? Or some combination?

Discuss.
No, your mice are because y'all gots food that isn't sealed right and you didn't call the exterminator in time. It's just a part of life like taxes and flu season and running out of coffee.

A no. Think.. they were here before us. We put OUR home on theres. So.. they go to things around them. We cook we take out the trash and.. then wild life comes.. a.. we DID IT! I wont feed anything else here as in to other things that do happen. But.. in this case..

Just fix the holes and what not.. its YOUR HOUSE. Did not your GOD give YOU power over every creeping thing? Do not they have to answer to you? Hey.. just telling you what HIS word say. DO you believe Him or not? :) its YOUR HOUSE..rent or not.. its your house. We really do as man have rights that our Father gave us. This all started by Him giving us what? Sin came.. floods..yet.. He said.. what rights we STILL have.

I do like the way you worded it. Not sure how you meant it. I see both.. and it made me laugh. Well.. I can say no.. but. in some places in this world.. it can be yes..<-----this was what I wont feed

The natural occurrence of mice has no bearing at all on the spiritual. God is not sending you message through it. Mice just come and go in houses. I have had mice in my house, I am sure other have also.

God is not quick to judge, and if he was it would be more than mice he would send. The bible says "God is love", a loving God does not want you stressed or worried that you may have offended Him. God is not easily offended.

Mice do seem to be a symbol of uncleanness and of judgment in scripture.
(Leviticus 11:29 , 1 Samuel 6:4 , Isaiah 66:17 , 1 Samuel 6:4-5 )

I have my own story of an "evil" infestation. We used to have a Nazi neighbour ( I mean that literally). He fought on the Russian front for 4 years, wounded twice. He lived in East Germany after that until the wall came down and seems to have never really worked through his Nazi past but rather acquired a whole lot of rubbish from the Commies over the years. The problem was he was our landlord and used to come in uninvited with his own key unannounced. We sued him and won and that stopped him. But soon after 9 mice appeared in our house in a single day on the weekend. My cat (hero of heroes) caught all of them in a single day. It even brutally managed to play with and then eat 6 of them right in front of us. She may be my hero but no wonder cats never make the bible! But she was so tired after having killed and eaten the 6 that the last 3 she captured she brought direct to our bedroom. Presumably as a gift so that we could finish them off! Anyway my wife is standing on the bed screaming orders and I am assigned to capture and kill. I caught them all took them outside and finished them off with a spade. Apologies to more squeamish readers but I regard them as unclean vermin.

Any way I do interpret this incident as a sort of sign of the uncleanness of our living arrangements vis a vis the Nazi we were paying money to every month. We moved shortly after and have never had any mice in the house since.

Pray about it. Maybe it is, maybe it isnt. Sometimes a mouse in a house is just a mouse in a house.

A mouse in the house is a minor affliction, such suffering not worthy to be compared to the glory that will be revealed in us.
The apostles doctrine teaches us “We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.”

So consider trials come to test your faith to show it genuine to all who witness, both earthly and heavenly and all principalities and powers, as Peter taught. There is no condemnation from God for those who are in Christ, we will suffer tribulation, but we will not suffer God's wrath.

Acts 14:21-23 New King James Version (NKJV)
Strengthening the Converts
21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch, 22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, “We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.” 23 So when they had appointed elders in every church, and prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

1 Peter 1:6-7 New King James Version (NKJV)
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
