Greetings,

I'm don't mind revealing my name - in general - but for now, just call me Emotionaless Truth, or ET. I do feel a little like an Extra-Terrestrial because I just don't feel like I belong on this planet. Of course, this is where God put me with all of you. So, for now, just call me ET.

I live in the Washington DC metropolitian area and attend a small church in the suburbs . I'm a black man, over 50 years old and have been a Christian for over 30 years. I was converted in college in a very active campus ministry at the University of Maryland, over 30 years ago. Although I grew up in church, didn't really get it until college.

I'm married, 1 adult child in college and 1 teenager at home.

I've been married for over 25 years with lots of ups and downs.

I've also been involved in church leadership for at least 20 years and I've taken one year of seminary, working on an M.Div which I hope to finish before I die.

Finally, I do have an undergradutate degree in a tehnical field and a masters in management.

I hope I can add to the forums here.

Thanks,
ET

Welcome!

Question: why is "truth without emotion" something to be desired?

BTW - I live in the MD suburbs and work inside the Beltway. We are almost neighbors.

I do understand your choice of screen names.

Truth without emotion is the down and dirty, bottom line truth. Not allowing our emotions to sway us as to what we want to believe is the truth but taking it as it is, like it or not, agree or not.

One of my favorite passages is from Isaiah 55

8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

We may not understand because of that

But we must trust this and seek the truth without letting ourselves get in the way.

Hey ET, if you feel like an extra terrestrial here, I can definitely relate to that. There are certainly days that I want the Earth to stop moving so I can get off. Lol. Either way, I read somewhere that this place is not our home. We're definitely aliens here. We're only passing through. Happy Thursday!
