Joshua 12:

This chapter lists Joshua's conquests, under the direction and the mighty hand of the LOrd Himself. It is mostly a record of who God was "judging". Each of these kings KNEW about Joshua, the Israelites, and their God, and how MIGHTY HE was. Yet there was, incredulously, NO repentance or turning from the Pagan abominations that they embraced and REFUSED to give up, even after hearing of the destruction of the previous kings and their cities for such abominations.

As such, they faced a wrathful God.

"It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." ~Hebrews

31 Kings were defeated by Joshua and His people. What kings need to be defeated in our lives? Jesus is the King! There is no room for any other in supreme control of our lives!

Amen!!!

Joshua 13:

So Joshua grows old......yet there is still much land to possess because some of the people who were supposed to be removed out of the land, still dwelled there even until the time of the writing of the book of Joshua.

The rest of this chapter is about what lands were given to Israel on the east side on the border of Jordan, which the children of Reuben, Gad, and half tribe of Manasseh were given.

The tribe of Levi received no land because God and the sacrifices were their inheritance.

Joshua 14:

This chapter focuses on the inheritance of the tribes of Israel, and specifically on Caleb, who came to Joshua and reminded him what Moses had promised him. And Joshua agreed that Caleb wholly followed the Lord God, with no hesitation, and Joshua blessed Caleb, and he gave him all of Hebron because Caleb DID follow wholly the God of Israel, when few did and shrunk back from trusting God.

And the land had rest from war.

Caleb asks for a mountain.

And he gets it.

Precious.

Joshua 17:

THIS is PHENOMENAL!! Ok, There was a man named Zelophahad, descended from Manasseh, who had no sons, but instead, five daughters, named: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

They came to Eleazar the priest, and Joshua, and reminded them that Moses had promised them an inheritance, since their father had no sons.

And it was given to them.

"But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters: and these are the names of his daughters, Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

And they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, The Lord commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore according to the commandment of the Lord he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father." ~Joshua 17:3-4

And even then, back in the Old Testament, God's justice is demonstrated.

Amen.

Joshua 18:

Sooooo there were some "slackers" who did not possessed the land, their inheritance given to them. This is a demonstration of "unbelief" and/or "cowardice", and downright insulting to the God Who GAVE it to them.

Look at what is written in verse 1:

"And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them." ~Joshua 18:1

God had "subdued" the entire land before the Israelites. It was just sitting there, waiting to be "claimed" and thus "possessed" by these 7 tribes. And there they sat.

"And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance. 3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?" ~Joshua 18:2-3
